So went to the dealership to pick up some motor oil, and my 2010 Tacoma 4.0v6 Prerunner TRD Sport is approaching 60k miles. So i've been getting curious as to when i should change my ATF. So i give the guy my VIN. He looks up the info in the computer, and says that i have the 5sp model where there is no ATF changed needed. Instantly fishy to me, but i just went along with it. Can anyone here comfirm this? Or is this guy handing out false info.

I'm not that confident in that interval. Depending on the use of your truck I'd consider changing it at least every 30-60. It seems risky to not service such an expensive part when the service isn't that complicated or expensive.

I'm driving it 25-30k a year. To work and back, and a couple of California/Utah trips. I just hit 53k on the odo. So i"ll definitely be changing it this weekend. Appreciate all the input.

Yeah, the thing with trans fluid is that in general, when the fluid goes bad, the trans is done. I try not to skimp on lubricants ever.

Pretty certain the Canadian manual says 100,000km ( 60,000 miles )

Yeah most definitely! No one likes the smell of burned ATF. Just pulled a burned up converter off a race motor this weekend, was not very bueno.

Trannys are people too. People need fluid changes to stay mentally and physically sound.
