I can't make the three week off work. I'd probably get the comment: "Sure you can have three weeks off! but while your at it just dont come back..." lol I wish.

two weeks though, Jen and I can probably do.

Turn pro tune off and don't shoot 4k.

kinda doubt a heat sink will help much. The battery life just isn't good either.

Mine won't even shoot any more. Turns on and freezes...

    LAAAMMMEEE!!

3 weeks would be so fun. I always feel like it takes 4-5 days to get in the groove. And after 8-10 days its just life. Then BAM! back to reality..be fun to extend the awesomeness.

    @at_olw lets do 3!

Hey i'll have you know..i am the ONLY rig that did the full trip that had no real issues. Other than 4wd not engaging the first half of the trip occasionally. Never really slowed us down.

    Frank is doing great! :D

Idk i'll bring it up casually one day and see what he thinks about it. Time of year plays a big role too since my work is very busy come sept thru nov. Then Jen is another story, her job would be tougher than mine for that kind of time off since she's "plugged in" 24-7 essentially. Be tough for her co workers to absorb that for 3 weeks.

I was running 4k 30seconds and protune was off. I also had power pack plugged in charging and could only get about half hour of time lapse before it would shut down

Yea true. No worries. Id love to do a 3 week trip. But i knew no one could really do it before i asked. Was just talking out loud. Other than Timmy anyways.

    Keep it in the shade.

And this would be a good idea.

Yea i'd love to. Knew you'd be up for it

Well if we go to Canada you and i could go to AK and up to Dead Horse. Or just go fish. Something.

Idk how the timing will work. But i think driving up there would be fun. Rough and crazy but fun.

Same for me. I get 2 weeks of vacation for the year which would have to include any drive time for myself (which would be quite a bit more if its a northern trip). I couldnt afford to take an extra week off work with no pay.

If i miraculously got an extra paid week of vacation id be in 100% thlugh

Im not opposed to a real camera at all.

I couldn't keep it in the shade cause i had it on the side of the combine during harvest.

Honestly gopro is cool but the software is glitchy. Both on the camera and editing software (that i still can't get it to export without crashing)

I never have used the editing software. I have Abobe stuff.

Maybe look at Contour too. Or sony has an action cam.

I've heard good things about contour from people who produce/edit for a semi-living.

They look nice. The video quality isn't on par with gopro IMO. Thats something Gopro has on everyone i think.

    Usually.

The guy I talked to said the contour produces better footage to match to the dslr look in post. Yea the gp probably has better iq but something about what the sensor puts out makes it difficult to match when you have backup gopro cams and main cameras like dslr's.

It feels like even three weeks would not be enough to go all the way to Prudhoe Bay. That is a long, long way. Google says 60+ hours from Missoula. Just under 3000 miles one way.

This last trip felt a little rushed. Maybe it was because it wasn't a full two weeks. :notsure: I like the sound of three weeks tho as long as we don't try to do too much.
