I totally agree Tundra is an old platform....but am happy with it for the time being...hoping for the next gen Ford EB or a diesel Tundra some day..

It's sad, because with a new top end I'm sure you could get another 5-10% fuel economy and power out of the iForce engines, but Toyota refuses to put in the work to get them there.

Oh I get Toyota places their name brand and supposed quality over innovations, but how hard would it be to throw a new to end on that 5.7 L to gain even 15 mpg EPA rating... Not hard I imagine.

It's not like Ford or GM have many engine issues either.

They could probably get a bump by just having an option on gears ..4:30 I think is all you can get

Went to my local Ford dealer today. Test drove a '15 F150 XLT crew cab, V8. 302a equipment group, 2WD, tow package, tailgate step, electronic locking rear dif., console. Beautiful truck. 44,800 msrp. 36,500 with dealer discount and incentives before any negotiating. 38 and change out the door price before we talk hard numbers. Unless I'm missing something, wow. :D Anyone want a '13, low mileage DCSB, 4WD short bed with a cap? Geez.

Shouldn't have done that :D I reckon dealer discount and mfg rebates will be brutal good towards the end of the year. As an added bonus, if you purchase a '15 F150 on or after January 1st, 2016...might get a bigger discount as it would be considered old.

I believe with Tacoma's historically high resale value, you shouldn't have any issues commanding $34K for your '13 Tacoma (sarcasm here).

I hear you. I'd only be worried about not getting what I want. The truck I tested today was spot on, even color. You're right, I shouldn't have done that, lol.

Well then...you better move. As my drill sergeant used to say, "there's no time like the present."

The Ford sales rep. told me he'd give me 29K on a trade. Going to try to sell it to people I know, but if I can't, oh well.

In late December, you can probably buy the 4x4 version of that truck for mid 30's OTD.
And a new equally equipped Tacoma will be 40.
I really like my Tacoma. But it will probably be my last. :(

I went back and forth on 2WD vs. 4WD. I've had my Tacoma for over 2 years and have never used the 4WD. With the locking rear diff., I think I'm good with 2WD for my use. Plus, 4WD is 3K more. Love my Tacoma, but so much more truck for the money with the F150.

Old isn't necessarily bad, if they offered a brand new 1st gen Tacoma today I would buy it. Though I would tweak it a bit, with the old boxed HiLux frame, and the 4.0 out of the 4Runner, and 5 speed manual trans...

Thanks. Cool video! Love that winch. I want to see the two trucks the op is asking about in pics so I can see the difference in size.

I reckon you could go to a Toyota dealer, take a test drive in a Tacoma. Head over to the Ford dealer and park it next to a F150 :D.

    ha ha!

Hey, the best from the last couple generations. Strong frame that doesn't rot, nice small size, coil-over front suspension with rack and pinion steering, the stronger of the 4.Oh's...and the no nonsense 5 speed hand shaker....oh yeah might as well through in the manual t-case too.
