I have always been a big fan of Tacoma pickups. I have owned a 1st and 2nd gen pickup and now I have moved up to the new 3rd gen truck. My truck is a MGM double cab Trd off road. I picked up my truck from the dealership on 30 Sept. I have 1500 miles on this truck at this time. I have been really impressed with this truck from day one. The only thing that Feels different to me from the previous tacomas I have owned is the accelerator pedal. The pedal seems to me like it is pushing back a little trying to tell me I dont have to be in a hurry to reach my speed. I am sure this is probably Toyotas way of teaching me to try and not rush things and stay in the Atkinson cycle mode. I was just wondering if other 3rd gen owners feel the same about the feel of the accelerator pedal.

Yes, I felt the same way the first time I drove my new truck, it's like they want you to be conservative with your acceleration to maintain the advertised fuel mileage, just for grins I stomped on the accelerator and was pleasantly surprised at the instant acceleration.

A lot of drive-by-wire cars are programmed this way now, especially when paired with variable cam timing. Soft on the bottom end for mileage, emissions, and housewives - but if you stomp it and/or get the revs up it goes. The smaller displacement isn't helping much either, but I didn't buy this thing for a performance vehicle.
