I'm looking into improving the sound in my 2015 DCLB. Looking at Alpine sps610c, kicker 40css674, and j.l audio tr650csi. I hope to keep the OEM radio. I may add a compact alpine amp into the mix. Which speakers will give me the most complete sound? I will not be installing a sub.

I had the JL TR650 components in mine for a while on the stock deck. It made a difference and they sounded great. Excellent speakers for the money

How was the bass compared to the factory speakers?

There was a tiny bit more bass, but nothing I could really write home about. The stock deck is de-tuned quite a bit to not drive the speakers very hard with bass. The highs and mids definatly sounded better than stock speakers and tweets.

But if you want bass your going to have to change the deck out at least.

Not really looking for more bass, just cleaner low end and warmer highs.

I was thinking of the compact Alpine amp to help power the speakers too.

I really want to keep the head unit if possible. I've never installed aftermarket speakers in a car before, so this is a first for me. Usually, first thing is to ditch the radio... Not this time.

If you want your speakers to come alive, Toss an amp on them. Furthermore, Toss some deadener on the doors at the very least.

Does the factory radio have enough power to run a new set of speakers or will I need an amp immediately?

factory radio has enough power. just don't expect to have clear music with the windows down doing 85mph

i get well over 100db average with the factory deck.

im running factory touch screen headunit, JL 5 channel amp, all of the high side channels to the front doors, polk audio 6.5 component set and the same dayton rs75-4 3" that slowcoma666 is running.
the 6.5 woofer is bandpassed off the amp 90hz-(500-700hz) range and the dayton 3" and polk tweeter are ran off the polk passive crossover. the fronts are highpassed around 500-700hz so the dayton only sees 500-700hz up to 4000hz and then the tweeter takes over to 23k hz.

and then i have 2 8" woofers tossed behind the front seats on the floor.

would i love to have an aftermarket headunit, sure, do i plan to get one any time soon? not at all.

I also ran an Alpine Power Pack to the factory speakers and replaced the factory tweeter with the dayton 3" at a 600hz inline filter and it sounded great with just throwing a bit more power to the stock speakers, add some deadening to the doors, and you will get back some mid bass im sure.

That's what I would do. Amp and sub. Leave factory head unit and speaker in.

I ordered the Alpine compact amp. I'll post after I install it. Now I'm looking into replacement front speakers...

Installed the Alpine amp yesterday using OEM speakers for now. Massive improvement in bass output and clarity. The Alpine highlights the shortcomings of the factory speakers. Biggest issue for me was the mass of wiring behind the radio. PITA to fit the radio back in the dash.

Did you install the amp in dash with radio?

I mounted the amp under the console. I used the metra wiring adapters so I didn't have to alter the factory harness. I only had to add a wire for the illumination circuit.
