I have been looking into getting a remote start for my '15 Taco. All the ones I have seen have the trunk open button. Do any remote start/alarm systems come with a FOB that doesn't include that button?

The viper 5706? I could be wrong but that's the one I'm looking at and didn't see a trunk button

I just installed the Viper 5706V last weekend. I bought the iDataLink on ebay for the bypass. The remote start has worked every time. I also installed 2 DEI 535T window modules to control the windows. Everything works pretty well... except that the alarm doesn't trigger when I manually pop the lock. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the wiring I did. In all the online wiring diagrams I found, it said the 2014 Tacoma has a pink/black wire for the rear doors, but mine didn't have that. The rear doors do unlock, but I wonder if it's because the front is unlocking all the doors. I didn't program the remote to double pulse, but that's how it's acting anyways. Double pulse is like the oem configuration for unlocking driver/ all doors.

Over all, I'm happy with it. I just need to figure out the alarm bit this weekend.

The instructions come with the remote start system. They're universal, so check out the alarm install thread for a Tacoma install.

Don't know if you already got yourself a remote starter but I got myself this plug and play kit. So easy to install. There are 3 CrimeStopper Cool Start models, I got the the 2nd one with a one button remote:

I ended up with an Audiovox Pursuit. Fantastic range with a small remote.

Is it normal for the first start to sometimes fail? After putting mine in it sometimes doesn't boot right up on the first start cycles then starts on the second. Just wondering to see if it causes any harm on my truck.

I'm no expert but I had the same issue with my Tacoma. After programming the tachometer option the remote starter gave the engine starter enough time to start the engine "Tach Reference Mode – Monitors Engine R.P.M. - Most reliable method".

The trunk button is to be set up for Windows option. Mine has all options..
Incremental widows down, all the way down/ up..
    Temp start, interval start,
Proximity sensor that can also operate window option
    Smart phone operation..
Gps tracking, zone detection, lojack type feature..
On and o on and on...
All play nice together,,,,I really really like it

Most units also have a setting to pick how long the starter engages for. I'd opt for the tach mode so it cranks until it reads rpm.

Just had a guy quote me 339$ +tax to install remote start using my factory FOB. Said that since it’s push start, when I open the door the engine will cut off until I actually start it up.
