Broken Antenna

    Vehicle was purchased used with running boards, 3" lift, 17" Moto Metal wheels, BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires, bed liner, tow package, and bike hooks. Mods Added (ongoing): Hood w/ Scoop (inbound)...
    Okay so my used Tacoma came with a broken antenna. Dealer offered to fix it for like $300 or something ridiculous like that. Figured I'd attempt it myself. Anyone have any advice on the best way to proceed? I would try an easy-out, but it looks like the bottom part of the original antenna is still stuck in the base. Your time and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Get a small drill bit center punch and an easy out bolt extractor set.

    Center punch the piece left in the base.

    Drill a hole into the center of the stub.

    Insert the easy out extractor and back the stub out of the hole.

    Theres a special kit you can buy at lowes to remove broken screws. I used it when I over torqued a screw on my old dirtbike

    That or buy one of those newer concealed antennas...plugs into the radio just like stock and is hidden away somewhere (if you don't care about leaving the fender as is)

    The exact same thing happened to me. But I decided if I could bust one antenna, I could bust another. So I removed the head unit and installed one of these

    I put the new "antenna" inside the windshield above the rear view mirror. It has worked great for about 8 years.

    I call this the "shaved antenna mod".

    I tried a center punch. No luck. It sounded like the whole fender was going to fall off my truck. It was so loud I thought I was going to knock something loose inside. Not sure what to try next.

    I followed the above diagram to a T. Took me about 90 seconds to punch, drill, remove and install new 17" antenna. Works on all my presets.
