    LOL.

Honestly, lots of things like this are why I was cool with an SR5 over a Sport or any other overpriced bells or whistles or trims. The money I saved can go into real suspension upgrades, etc. The fucking Entune "system" and that screen glare have had me screaming F-bombs at the top of my lungs multiple times. Speakers are mud. I expected that, that's why we have Crutchfield. I'll be looking into a HU that is compatible wiht the backup camera monitor too. HAve no idea how that crap works yet, but there must be options. When finding clean underwear is not my biggest concern of the day, I'll look into some of these finer things.

I don't really understand rear speakers anyway.... Music is recorded, and decoded, in stereo. Two channels. And I don't really care about my passengers as they're usually either kids on their ipods or dogs licking their genitals. (God help us if that ever gets mixed up!)

I'm on the hunt for small subwoofers I could install back there. That would seem to me to be a better use of the holes.

Far too long I have wrenched without power. So today I picked up a 1/2" 18v impact gun by Ridgid, 4AH battery and charger. Immediately drove to HF and got two strips of regular and deep impact sockets, some swivel bits, and extensions.

Yahoo! How much the impact set you back? I've been looking at a corded one from DeWalt ($179) since my hand-me-down air impact took a shit the first time I used it.

    $139 for Impact gun.
$119 4AH Battery, and charger kit

Tomorrow I'll be testing it out when i pull the LCA. If I like the tool, I'll keep it.

The gun has a 3-year warranty, but if you register with Ridgid, they'll extend it for life!

They also sell a hammer drill and 1/4" impact gun as a kit for $169 which includes batteries! I'm not 100% sure, but I'm under the impression that if you register for the lifetime service agreement, it covers the batteries too. Need to read the fine print, but it's in the comments on HD's website.

Interested to hear your feed back on the cordless impact. Was looking at them the other day and way too many options. Just need something basic to take of most truck hardware.

Yeah. That fine print will get you- especially with the batteries. I have a Makita drill/driver that I got 4 years out of the batteries before one has a shorter life and the other died completely. Meanwhile, my DeWalt batteries are still chugging away after 15 years. They don't last as long anymore, but they still work.

My dad uses a Millwake cordless that I got him about 10 years ago and it's awesome.

That's pretty good. I've bought some generic battery packs on Amazon for my cordless dewalt drill and it completely rejuvenated the tool after 8 some years. Power plus I think was the brand. Funny story--- I'm paranoid about overseas electronics and when I have to get/buy them, I charge them in my back patio with 6' clearance for the first 5 times or so, just in case they burst into flames I don't want my house to burn down. :D

Haha! Good rule. I got a generic battery for the Makitas that cost something like $40. The first one wouldn't charge, but I got it exchanged and the second one works like a charm! An actual Makita battery would've cost as much as buying a new drill with a battery included.trap.jpg

I caved in today and ordered 5100's for the front. I can't take the OME shock anymore...

I don't have any experience with the OME, but I ran the 5100's for quite a while.
They didn't give me any trouble, but I was led to believe that the OME were a bit better? What is it you don't like?

There wasn't enough valving for heavy trucks when I ran OME.

The OME shock does not have enough down travel, and it's lightly valved. Which means that when I drive over an obstacle such as a speed bump, the shock becomes fully extended very rapidly with a very loud thud noise. It can be a very jarring experience. The noise is a metal stop welded to the shaft inside the shock which stops the shock from destroying itself. The shock is fine for a pavement pounder, but for off-road travel it cripples the truck! The fact is I could drive a lot faster with the stock setup than I can with the OME shock on the truck.

I think the 5100's are a better choice for entry level lift, because ride height can be adjusted at install time, AND, the shock is a full 1" longer than the OME.

    Here are the measurements:

Nitrocharger sport shocks (90000 or 90021)

    Extended Length: 21.378"
    Collapsed Length: 16.260"

    Bilsten 5100: 24-239370

    Extended Length: 22.56"
    Collapsed Length: 17.03"

This thread is on point for more on the problem / condition: OME 885 terrible off road ride, but the title is wrong, it's the shock, not the coil that's the problem.

It's hard to "experience" it from a video, but I think I had a similar clunk when topping out the 5100s. Even the Kings (to a much lesser extent) will clunk when suddenly unloaded.

I guess I just figured that the correct valving for the springs and weight of the truck would never tolerate an "instant unload" situation.

I don't know if I'm making any sense or not, but it makes sense in my head :D

Crom ive been silently reading all the posts in the OME thread and I think you and I are in a very similar position. I love the OME lift, everything is great EXCEPT the shocks in the front over every speed bump and every bump or drop offroad... The shock hitting the metal bump sounds like the truck is going to break...
So are you considering swapping your shocks for 5100s? Im really not sure what to do but I know im very tired of the terrible clank from the front end and dont exactly have the money for ICONS/KINGS/FOX right now..

Your situation sounds identical to mine... Can't afford big suspension upgrade, so find something, anything that works just to get by...

Yes. I am reasonably certain it will help solve the problem. Going to swap front shocks. I got the shocks for $162, so why not try? I just need to borrow a spring compressor and a Saturday morning and I'll be stoked!

This is great to hear. Wish I could try them out!
