I've got a 96 2.7 4x4 that I'm looking for a bull bar for. I've looked online and haven't been able to find anything. Anyone know where I can pick one up or if it's possible to get a newer one and modify it to work?

    Welcome to TW

You're going to get an overwhelmingly negative response from TW regarding bullbars. They aren't attractive, and they offer no additional protection and in many cases, in accidents, end up making contact with the bumper, grille and hood causing more damage had the bar not be installed in the first place.

If you are looking for added protection get a plate bumper, if you are looking to mount lights, there are a couple companies that make dedicated front bumper light bars that are quite streamlined.

The consensus here on TW is that it is an inferior product and only usable as a place to mount lights. After having the Avid bar in my hands, I am very pleased with the thick-wall tube construction. Like Pablo says, if you are going to push with it, need a plate bumper, for something just a bit more functional than the Bull Bar, get the Avid...

I appreciate your concern but I'm looking for a bull bar. The link you shared isn't even for my 96. I'm looking for a bull bar that will fit my 96 so any help with that would be appreciated!

Not tryna add to the hate on bull bars but theres a reason you dont see them on the 95-97 front end because they really dont go together. Westin used to make a "safari light bar" that looked pretty good but i dont think they make them anymore.

I just typed in "Amazon.com 1996 Toyota Tacoma Bullbar" into google and it popped up. I almost never use the actual website's search function on any website (including TW) and instead just type into google, the website I want to search, and then the search phrase I'm looking for.

Def a damage multiplier and negative impact on approach angles....... But they do make good light mounts...... They should never have been called bull bars many yrs ago........ Iirc that term came from long haul truckers and the fellas in the outback who also call them 'roo bars.. Def a different aminal.

Agreed, but in some cultures, bull-bars are considered a style element.

Personally, I think they reduce the value of a vehicle, but everyone has their "thing."

Go Rhino makes the bull bar that I have on my 99 and 03.
Or if you like this police style bull bar design and have the cash/want a winch then check out Warn.

This bull bar mounts to the bottom of the frame with 4 bolts and the top of the frame with 2 more bolts. This is much stronger than your average bull bar. You can also mounts lights, stand on it, and even mount the light bar portion to the bumper in two spots for even more stability (though you'd need to fab your own mounts, the points already exist, I did it on my 99)

I know there's a lot of negativity towards them but I was able to find one and get it installed. I really like the way it turned out on Barney!
