installed kenwood ddx372bt. sounds bad

I had best buy install a kedwood ddx372br head unit and it looks great but it sounds terrible. I have a 2007 tacooma trd sport with the JBL system. The stock aystem sounded Way better. Any ideas what the problem can be?

to be more specific... it sounds bad at the hugher range of the volume. It sounds over bassed and almost like there us static. I messed with the adjustments and it made a little difference.

 

I don't have first hand experience with this issue, but I have read some other posts about the JBL system having some factory made sound tuning adjustments. I don't know if it's done in the HU or the amp, but when you replaced the HU it could have cancelled out the factory tuning. Another theory I have is maybe the HU outputs are overpowering the JBL amp's input leading to distortion.

The only thing I could think of is adjusting the EQ to lower the problem frequencies.

Didn't charge for jbl intetface...never mentioned it.
I messed with the EQ and it still sounds bad. Thought I was treating myself to something nice instead treated myself to problems.

 

Hmm , I have a Kenwood deck and it sounds out of this world good !!
Wondering if the installer knew how to properly wire that critter ?

Most stereo shops do subpar work, I don't even want to know what kind of work Best Buy does.

Have them fix it or get your money back. They should have listened to it before and after, and noticed that it didn't sound right.

ok got it fixed. I brought it back to Best Buy and had the guy listen to it. I went to lunch and when I came back he said that there was an adjustment in the back of the head unit that he turned up. It sounds much better on the louder settings but you think he would have noticed it when it put it back together.

 

A setting on the back of the head unit ??? Maybe he was referring to the audiolink.

 

Now that I think about...I think he was lazy and installed something wrong. Now I hear static when I go over bumps Even when there is no volume.
