I just had a thought. What if the button was slightly sticking or basically on the tolerance of it being "on" / depressed. So after some use it basically breaks in from being so new and no further issues are found. I have experienced that myself before.

If you reset the trip meter does it zero the tank avg. MPG? Guessing not. Also both A and B trips reset. A sticking button seems unlikely but, nothing else has been discovered.

Add me to the list. Both my trips reset to zero today when I got in the truck to go home from work. I always leave it on trip B, and this afternoon the ODO was displaying. Also the Fuel avg. was reset.

I was thinking maybe it had to do with the Tekonsha P3 trailer brake controller I installed over the weekend, but now that I see others are having similar issues...

I'll call Toyota tomorrow and let them know. Not sure the dealer will be able to do anything about it, as has already been experienced by others.

Kinda bummed though. Thought I might get lucky and have a trouble free truck experience, well after being rear ended on the 5th day of ownership and all. Damn hit and run California drivers. Lady behind me was rearended and pushed into me, now her insurance is declining to cover my repairs. Saying she wasn't at fault so they have no liability in the claim. State Farm. Pricks. So if I claim on my insurance I have 500 deductable, and I priced the replacement parts around $465 plus paint. Hit and run is a huge problem here in SoCal. Guess why!?

Bummer. You can and should also call Toyota directly and they can open a case file for you.

Reported to Toyota Cust. Service. Opened a Case #. Let them know about the ODO Trip reset issue as well as the hood vibration/glue bonding issue. Will let the dealer have a look both during the 5k mi maint.

Something to note: At the end of my discussion with the cust service rep at Toyota offered me a $500 customer appreciation "retroactive reimbursement" of parts, accessories, or servicing at a franchised Toyota dealership for my trouble. Now I am not sure if this is std procedure with them or if it was due to the fact that I was truly trying to improve their product and others experience by relaying information helpful to a known issue, or because I was simply tactful and kind during the conversation. But nonetheless I am extremely impressed the way they are handling issues customers are having with the teething problems of the Gen 3 Tacoma.

They didn't offer me shit when I called. Though the guy who I dealt with was very professional.

My tank average reset out of the blue today after being parked for 5 minutes. 300ish miles on the vehicle.

Did you notice your A and B trip meters reset?

My trip meter resets everytime I shutdown the vehicle? Note I have not changed the display configuration at all.

So, this is an option, to have your meters reset every time you turn off the truck? Seems unlikely. Your trip avg.mpg etc.... yes as it shows when you turn off the truck but, not your A and B meters which is what we are talking about.

The tank average only resets upon refueling, correct?

    Mine reset without this occurring.

And I'm talking on my display I have mph+odo, tank average+miles remaining, trip. The last two screens reset.

Don't know why the tank average resets at each shut down. That might a be a settings issue. Not related to this thread topic though. Maybe start a new thread for that issue and you might get a response from someone about whats going on or how to change it.

Do you have any "Past Record" in the ECO app?
I don't have a trip meter issue; my ECO app doesn't log a "Past Record'.

Mine reset Monday afternoon. But only the A and B trip. Not the average fuel economy. Truck has 1100 miles on it.

When I got in the vehicle this morning I confirmed that Trip A and B were both at 7ish miles. 7 miles ago is when my tank average reset after being parked for 5 minutes. Prior to checking the trip meters this morning I had never even pushed in the stick to see anything other than ODO.

This is a good observation. So, every time you stop the truck your tank avg. and A and B trip meters reset? Can you please monitor the A and B meters for a while to see if this is the case. This would actually make me feel better about this problem in that its almost certainly a software issue rather than some electrical issue which is more concerning for me in terms of reliability.
