Will I need new front bump stops for my extended travel icon coilovers that I'm getting? I would really hate to damage something that expensive haha

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
I put on Wheelers Superbumps, they have been great and aren't expensive.

    No.

The collapsed length of the "extended travel" shocks offered by icon / fox / king are all the same length as the "stock length" coil overs. The only difference is the spacer that determines how much the shock can extend out which gives them more droop or extended length (necessitating aftermarket UCA's so they dont hit the coils or bind the upper ball joint)

My only problem with running extended length rear shocks of about a 16in collapsed length, then adding a longer bump is you are really limiting your up travel by extending your bumpstop. Which makes it pointless to run said shock. Like stated this can be dealt with by doing a shackle flip, and running a lift shackle to gain more up travel via more lift at the end of the spring.

That stated the 16in collapsed length should be pretty close with the extra thickness of the dakar pack. Id be interested to see what the measurement would be if someone removed a shock (with a full dakar pack on - no leafs removed) and stuffed that side and took a measurement from the center line of the shock bolt on the axle and the lower flange of the frame mount. Then you could truly see how much you would need to extend your bump or not.

    NEXT.

Wheelers super bumps. THEY COMPRESS ALOT!!!! more so than stock bump stops even though the superbumps are taller to begin with.

I would like to know that measurement with the tire stuffed too.. I will probably check at some point but the weather is not gonna to cooperate anytime soon..
Dan at wheelers stated the rear super bumps collapse to stock height

I feel as though in practice on hard hits they compress further than the stock bumps.

If i get time next weekend ill pull a shock out of my rig and flex her to bump and take measurements. This would be on a stock 3+1 pack with a single AAL, But if we know the thickness of that pack, height of my bumpstop, and distance from shock axle bolt centerline to flange you can then compare anything else against this by knowing the thickness of the spring pack you are going to use in conjunction with w/e bump stop.

I don't wheel, so my needs regarding performance are likely atypical with respect to those who frequent this forum a lot, but I've decided to pair the regular Icon rears with the Dakars.

I have a double cab long bed with a topper, so I'm hoping the Dakars will settle in around 2.25 - 2.5 inches.

I thought that OME specifically paired the N182 NitroChargers with their Dakars, and they measure 13.85 x 23.93 (collapsed x extended). Or maybe that's just what a lot of guys seem to run?

Anyway, the regular Icons are pretty darn close to those specs (14.22 ” coll. X 23.25″ ext). If you wheel hard and are likely to be fully extending these shocks, I guess some extra travel is good, but for my needs, I don't think its necessary.

I rock the OME N182's as they were the longest travel shock i could find with the collapsed length i needed for my stock pack + an AAL, that i didnt have to space the bump stop. I dont do much in the way of high speed stuff but flex is nice when needed on the jeep trails.

Im surprised no one has done an inboard setup like people do on the 1st gens on the 2nd gens with the shocks like / \

I always wondered why some trucks have shocks mounted like that..
