Wow, AND it's a LEASE! Man that's a hard lesson there. Even tho ultimately you made the mistake, I'd be sure to spread the word on that salesman/dealership on here so people know. Maybe they'll reap what they sow.

I suspect he is young....we all live and learn.

Auto purchasing tips I have learned the hard way over the years....

    1. Do not trade a vehicle in. If you have a vehicle to get rid of sell it privately. Take that money and do whatever.
    2. Shop around until you find the truck you want is sitting on the lot...do not order.
    3. Go to a bank or CU and get pre approved for a good rate auto loan, do not use dealer financing.
    4. Do not buy extended warranty from dealer. Shop around for extended warranties if you feel you need one....you can buy these from any dealer at any time after your purchase usually for a huge savings if you shop around. And only buy manufacturer (Toyota) warranty...no second party warranties
    5. Make your deal over the Internet to sidestep all the smoke and mirrors sales tactics
    6. Do not talk about monthly payments...you should already know this by getting pre approved for financing...they will try to steer focus on monthly payments to sneak more profit in.
By doing these things you will severely limit their ability to screw you and avoid the shell game and the bait and switch game. All negotiations should be on sale price alone not monthly payments, dealer add-ons or services.

    That's outrageous,

somebody needs to start a bad dealer thread, and start putting these ass clowns in check, with getting the word out.

It's all part of learning. I can say my current lease sucks but live and learn right.

I've met some really shitty salesman and I've met some cool ones. However the good ones aren't very common.

I know, I just hate seeing people getting ripped off, especially from greedy douches.

I agree with everything except #1. Might be a pain to do privately if you still owe and the bank is holding the title, and there is a tax break/advantage in some states. For instance, I'm trading my '12 on the '16. I would have had to sell it for something like 3k more to break even on the tax break from trading.
