UPDATE: The damage done to the transmission is as follows: gear train snapped in half, valve body exploded, clutches exploded and the torque converter broke. The new transmission is beefed up with a higher pressure valve body, bigger bearings, hd clutches, billet gear train and an after market torque converter.

Hmm the valve body exploded ? Very strange
They installed a new valve body or repaired yours ?
Bigger bearings dont fit unless theý cut down shafts ?
It would be nice to see their rebuild procedure
With that kinda damage , did they bypass the rad cooler ?

I imagine a new trans was quite expensive.

Not literally exploded but you know what i mean... And yes a new one was installed and yes bigger bearing were installed and the shop that built the tranny builds race transmissions for sprint cars so I think they know what they are doing. The radiator cooler is still there and out the door it was right around $5200

Sprint cars don't have a transmission. They use what is known as an in/out box. Which is literally what it says. They're direct drive, have a box that's either in gear or out of gear. They're push started IN gear. Any gearing change is affected by rear end gear ratio. They have no clutch, nor are they shifted during a race.

I wasnt questioning or saying the shop didnt know what they were doing . I was questioning the information they provided you as to what they did to the internals .
Have never heard of billet gearing . Billet is a term describing alluminum quality in which some valve body components are replaced and billet alluminum is used .
As for the heavier bearings , did they tell you what parts were upgraded ?
The reason i ask is because i am considering beefing up my trans and this is the first time i have heard of a few of these upgrades .

I know that for the gear train billet steel gears were used not aluminum and it was all custom made by Gar's. And as for the bearings they did not tell me what parts were upgraded but I am sure if i called i could find out.

Totally agree, sounds like he will get shift improver kit which will raise line pressure a tad, maybe red clutches kolene steels. Bigger bearings in torque converter and probably just one of them, converter most likely has something billet in there, don't know if anyone out there is making billet planetarys for that trans but maybe. I am sure it will be a good rebuild, tranny shops kinda blend all the big words together it just sounds good. Hope all goes well!
