I decided to check insurance rates before I made the move to order my 2016 DCSB TRD OR. I am 23 and have a perfect driving record with no claims or incidents. Geico quoted me $67 a month (after discounts) for full coverage 100/300 with $500 deductible. That is almost half of what I currently pay for my 1998 Mustang. Needless to say I was shocked at the low price and wasted little time in calling the dealer back.

Trucks cost less because they are usually labeled a commercial vehicle

From my 2014 Accord Sport to the Tacoma, my premium went up a whooping 3 bucks. So I'm glad.

Sh!t. Ill take that cocky attitude back. That's pretty bad. Considering that you guys have horrible winters. I would leave that hole and move down here ;). Taxes are ~10% for a new/used vehicle no matter what.

Might as well pay the same and enjoy good weather. It's going to be 75° at noon here!

Living expenses and properties are more expensive here though...

$1.79 for gas and $284.20 every 6 months with Geico and $500 deductibles. :anonymous: On the downside, it's still only 46F here.

I'm trying to get out my girlfriends family is all here l.

Yes your house value is more but my tax is more. 400k, house 12k a year tax. I'd rather have the value in my house then pay tax you get nothing for.

I have a traffic ticket on my record, drops off next December but $585 every 6 months with USAA $1000 deductible, includes Under insured + Uninsured motorist + Bodily Injury Liability + Comp & Collision at 100k/300k + Property Damage at 50k and a feature where USAA promises to pay an extra 20% over "market value of vehicle" if declared a total loss which is somewhat like a GAP coverage. I thought the "gap" coverage was worth it for only an extra $3 per month...no brainer

I think they said the traffic ticket adds about $140 - $120 extra to my 6 month premium...not really a HUGE deal IMO but yea looking forward to that dropping off

I'm 22 with a few speeding tickets, no at fault wrecks.

    Quotes from Allstate:
$130/month if I go at it on my own (1 truck, renters, 0 years)
$60/month if I tag along with my parents (3 cars, 1 boat, 1 house, 1 condo, 25+ years)

The numbers only apply to the amount paid to insure the Tacoma. Stuff in parenthesis is just to give an idea of what all is being insured and why the values are so different.

$1920 a year on my 2006 jetta TDI as secondary driver (was that way when I bought it since I needed a cosigner so father is primary on it)
    $500 deductible
    1mil liability
    full coverage
    rental car coverage

Got a quote from my broker for the taco since insurance is a deciding factor for what I buy.
would be $2880 all on my own as primary exact same coverage etc.
Truthfully for my record and age thats actually an outstanding price.

Other car I was looking at buy was an Audi S4 and insurance would've been way higher on that one.
Broker explained it. Nothing to do with the type of car or HP. Just safety rating. If its safer its cheaper basically. Covering a 30-50K vehicle that is damaged is nothing considering the price of covering physiotherapy, lost wages being out of work, possible disability etc is much higher. So anything that is safer is going to be cheaper. As long as you do not have accidents etc.

Luckily the accident I was in is not off my record so big drop. I just got my renewal in november it dropped 1200 a year since that accident came off. And to think it was a hit and run and because I didn't get a plate it was ruled 50/50 which to a broker is at fault.
