I'm not allowed to own nice pretty things, they don't last long. Though I wish I had vehicles to consolidate, after a day on the trails I gotta drive my truck to work.

I don't have a designated recovery rig like some people...

    That's good to know.

I won't be getting the full set until mid next year. I'm going to Baja for Christmas and thought it'd be a good idea to have a second spare. So next year when I replace my current tires I just need four more and I'll keep this one as my spare and rotate it in. By that point I'll have a compact car as a daily driver and I'll park the truck.

Had the frame inspected at the dealership today.. It passed. :(. Service guy said, "man it looks immaculate under there", guess that's both good and bad.. Soo I've got 6 months left under the warrantee then I'm on my own

Well if you're banking on getting the frame replaced before your time is up, you may have luck on your side. Winter is coming. If you'd rather let it rust badly and get it replaced, rather than take care of what you have, just make sure not to wash your truck at all during Winter, and always drive during/after they salt/brine the roads.

But if your frame is really that good, it seems silly to worry about the replacement deadline. Just do preventive maintenance before each Winter and keep it going strong.

Haha yeah I'm kinda OCD with all my installs. And I do have power windows but the viper doesn't control those unless it's a standard "Auxiliary Feature" that comes factory:notsure: so I just use the standard security features and remote start. Installed a manual clutch bypass switch as well

With my luck, I'd let it rust like crazy this winter, pass the final inspection in May, then find a gaping fuckin hole come June!

Soo I'll just treat the rust I have for now (primarily around the passenger side gas tank crossmember) spray it with Rustoleum rust converter/topcoat, and hit it with some undercoating or Fluid Film. Once the warranty is over I'll pull the bed, wire wheel it, weld in some reinforcements and box the rear of the frame, then paint with something high quality.

I don't ever plan on getting rid of the truck so I will definitely continue to take good care of her.. Would be nice to get a totally new frame on their dime, but guess I got one of the good ones so I should be thankful for that!

Yeah most likely. Why should it work out so you benefit? That almost never happens with important things.

You do that and it should be without issue. Especially if the frame is good enough to pass the test currently. And since you live in NJ, it's impressive that you still pass.

Not a clue if mine would pass, since it was never brought it, so it doesn't matter now. Overall, though, it looks good. The PO said he tried to keep up on it. Seems he did a pretty good job. I wanted to remove the bed this weekend and take care of it before the Winter, but that didn't work out.

Yea I'm kinda surprised it looks as good as it does. It spent its first 10 yrs near the beach in LI, then the past 5 up in Sussex County, NJ. I've taken good care of it, as did the PO, but honestly I feel that the undercoating that my local dealer did to it back in Dec 2011 has certainly done its job and I've been really happy with the results
