    Is there anywhere to buy the color matched side bumper pieces yet? If not, how hard are they to remove to paint?

    Probably the first mod I will do once I get a Tacoma. I hate chrome. Chrome belongs in the 60s, and on toasters.

    I am wondering if Plasti-dip would hold up?

    That's probably the route I'll take, anyone know how easily the bumper comes apart?

    I haven't even had a chance to see the part up close, unfortunately. I would imagine you could scuff the finish with a scotch-brite pad so it would take paint. Looking forward to how you handle this. Mine, when I do eventually get it, will be an OR model, so I want black, to match the fender flares.

    I have chrome as well and would like to either paint, dip, or replace with color match. Check the Parts Catalog Finally Updated thread for a few bumper part questions.

    In any case, I would like to figure out how to remove the chrome section. The bottom has three or four plastic clips, so the other clips or screws must be under the step section of the bumper.

    LMAO ...I can remember when 2nd gen first came out and everyone on the forums cursed the TRD sport color matched rear bumper and everyone wanted chrome. People were asking to trade their painted bumpers for chrome ones. Now everyone hates the black wrap on the B pillars and are peeling it off but then they want to plasti dip everything else black....I just dont get it

    I started taking mine apart to see how it's going to go if/when I wrap mine.
    Looked to me like, the step-cover piece has to come off first, or at least, loosened.
    It's just clips and screws.
    The clips have two pressure tabs each. I found a flat head, on each side of the clip, worked to get them out; right angle pliers would probably be nice.
    Access sucks due to tow package.

    FWIW, here are some 3M 1080 wrap samples on an MGM grill;
