Speaking of releasing those particles, they would be wiped off at every change, right?

Also, I don't have a fumoto valve, but I imagine that it must be screw in, right? If you put a magnet on that, it would catch even more particles as the oil drained through it. Versus a magnetic plug that would be on the ground while your oil was draining. Get what I'm saying?

Fumoto valve is mostly forged brass, so not magentic.

For the people who like to do there own first oil change if you want to see something interesting cut that first oil filter open . It's all perfectly normal in time there will be less and less as the engine wears in

bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
GL-5 spec, and typically around 75W-80, but the exact viscosity really doesn't matter...just don't use the 140 stuff unless you live in a very hot place...

Thanks I saw this in the manual after I posted, however it is the quantity of differential oil I'm not sure about. The manual list about 4 different quantities for the RWD's.
Do I just fill it to the top?

DON'T mix syn. 75-80 with non syn. it will get like tar. Motor oils you can mix but gear oil. I have also seen it where it turns white and looks like it has water in it, but it's from mixing. You could probably go 75-90 and be fine.

It's a personal choice, but I always change the oil(in my new cars/trucks) for the 1st time at 500-1,000 miles. Peace of mind I guess....

When do you change it after that? If it is breaking in for the first 5000 miles are you really saving much?

I always like to have the oiled changed for the first time at around 1000-1500 miles, but this is the first vehicle I've had that included two oil changes. It makes me nervous wait 10k for the first change, but I also don't want to waste the included ones. I wonder if I can pay for the oil change at 1500 but still get the included one at 10k.

Yes, dealer will be more than happy to take your money. A lot of people that don't want to wait until 10k has paid for their first.

Had the first oil change done at 1150 miles. I have an "indy" that lets me use my own parts (Toyota filters 04152-YZZA1 bought on Amazon for aprox. $23-pack of 5 and Mobil 1 0-20W). He charges me $15 and allows me to help remove the skid plate and he thoroughly cleans and residue that might be left from the change and completely inspect under the truck. When we drained the OEM oil it looked very clean (light brown). Not sure what type/brand of Toyota uses in the engine production process but it will be Mobil 1 from here on out. The dealer can take his "free" services and shove them. They usually put the "new kid" who just got promoted from the wash bay to do the oil changes and they damn sure won't let you watch. I have ramps and could do it myself but the $15 is a bargain IMO.

Had my mechanic do a change at 500 miles (did so on my last 3 cars), had the dealer do an oil change today during the 5k maintenance (actually at 5690 miles). Just call it habit, despite synthetic. Did the same on my Jetta that I traded in.
