265/70r17 BFG KO2 MPG Impact?

Any real world experience running BFG KO2s (265/70r17)? How is the drive? What was your impact to fuel economy?

Load C or Load E?

I just ordered Load C's for installation on a set of TRD Pro 17" wheels. I went with Load C for a smoother ride and less impact on fuel economy. In addition there will be less unsprung weight. Downside is the Load C's won't be as durable, but that's something I'm willing to give up since I bought the tire replacement warranty from America's Tire.

 

I am also doing TRD Pro wheels! I went load range C for the same reasons. I am hoping to maintain the 19-20 I have been averaging in my TRD SPORT DC MT.

 

From what I've seen on here you'll probably lose about 1mpg in that tire size/load. Same width, slightly taller and heavier(46lbs vs 37lbs/tire), more aggressive tread pattern.

 

Running the C's on the Pro wheels. Getting 19-20.

What were you getting before you switched from stock?

 

Switched within days of delivery so no help there.

I also have the black TRD 17's on with the BFG KO2'S. Ride is great no major change. MPG has fluctuated between losing .5-1MPG. I have roughly 1500 miles with the new rims and tires and absolutely love them! I've had several people stop by my house and ask me about my Tacoma while I am working in the garage.

 

Runs great! No big difference in MPG.

 

1mpg or so difference. But the ride, feel and handling over the stockers out weighs
any little mpg hit it took. C rated

zero! not even close.

 

C rated here. 265/70-17 on TRD pro wheels. No change really that I have noticed. Put them on at 1800 miles. I drove a 300 mile round trip on Saturday over Mt. Hood to central Oregon and back to Portland and averaged 18.5. That has been my best mileage yet! Overall average is 16.1 with mostly city driving to work and back. DCLB TRD OR 4x4

 

Mine are also C rated. Didn't feel the need for the E rated tires.

 

C rated...took a 1 mpg hit. Well worth it!

 

For those guys sticking with the 16" wheels, I couldn't find 265/75/16's in anything but E. Going to the 265/70/17's, was no problem.

Do you folks notice the transmission shifts more than before? How are the tires holding up so far?

 

I havent noticed any transmission shifting more then usual.

 

No noticeable difference for me
