At the dealer now, no loaner car? Wtf

They don't know what's wrong so they won't give a loaner car, even though I sent a video prior to coming in, service advisor pawned me off on the accessories guy since I was coming in for tint bed extender and door protection. Also need the wheel straightened as its crooked,

Sounds like they want to wave a magic Toyota quality wand and make this go away.

Let us know what they come up with.

I have a decent maintenance shop at my Toyota; however, I've got an awesome rep and I stick with her for all my appointments.

I have noticed over recent years that loaner vehicles are almost a thing of the past. My dealership has a rental center and they actually rent you a vehicles (only after a diagnosis) so they bill Toyota for the rental.

This is the only non-premium vehicle I own, the others Cadillac and Lexus give you a loaner car, I have 4 cars so I didn't make a big stink, they gave me a ride home, my fault for expecting a loaner up front

If your vehicle needs to stay over night you get a loaner (while under warranty) but of course for something like this they won't know ahead to time if your vehicle will need to stay over night so they can't just front you the loaner.

Dropped mine off at the dealer today, the dealer contacted Toyota which told them to have the dealers body shop fix it. Sounds like the body shop plans to removed the old adhesive and reapply new adhesive. They did give me a loaner since the truck will be at the dealers over night. Will report back when it's returned.

Shut up Dude you are spoiling all the fun, :smack:
So surprising nobody realized that to stop hood from vibrating all you probably need to do is tighten bump stops ... Thats why they are there.

If you go online and look at your dealerships service department page it should list the minimum estimate to qualify for a free rental; Mine is a minimum estimate of $400.

I waxed my truck this weekend, and the orbital buffer made my hood wiggle like no other vehicle I've worked on before. Must be really thin material to save weight and crumple in an accident I guess?

My dealer called today and said Toyota authorized the repair and I have an appointment on Monday to bring it in. They said they will need it for 2 days to repair. I'll post an update when I get it back on Wednesday next week.

This is good that they seem to be working towards a standardized fix. Sorry if I missed it in a previous post but, did you already have your truck inspected at the dealer and they just found out about how to fix it or did you simply call your dealer with your problem and they consulted with Toyota without inspection (since its a pretty obvious problem)?

I had it inspected at the dealer last week. They took pictures and sent them to Toyota and today Toyota authorized a fix.

what is the name and location of your dealership? When I take mine in I'd like to reference them and maybe they'll call them for info.

    Thanks

Yes. Noticed it as soon as I hit the highway for the first time and after I bought it. (I test drove another one).

2 days? Seriously? Thought they would just squirt some adhesive in the spots and be done with it. Wonder if it's the cure time that takes so long. Interesting.

Do keep us posted. Good to know ahead of time what we have to look forward to. Thanks.
