I'm not calling you stupid... But are you sure you got all the bolts? I got pissed off at mine because like yours it wouldn't budge then I realize i missed two bolts that were hidden in the little "tower" things. You need an extension to get to it. Idk once I got those it came right off. Just a thought

I took the 3 bolts off the front, as well as the 2 that are on the back of the ifs skid. Every part of the skid is hanging except for the passenger side where this one piece seems to be superglued to the frame.:annoyed:

Yeah, spring compressors are always sketchy. Use the LCA jack method seen below.

Used this method several times with great success. It's really easy and much safer. Only thing I will add is position the jack perpendicular to the truck, so that the jack can move in and out as the control arm cycles.

    No sir. It's this one:

I would not recommend doing this without loosening the LCA cams. But this also depends on what coils you're installing.

First time I did it without loosening the cams. Decompressed the coil with the jack, then removed the jack, but there was still tension on the coil as the LCA would not drop further. Avoid a potentially dangerous situation and loosen the cams, you'll need an alignment anyways.

I've done a mod or two
I've never had to remove the ones that hold the skids together to remove the whole unit.

    This.

The other 2 bolts hold the trans skid to the ifs skid.. shouldn't have anything to do with removing the front skid.

I'm about to go out there with a hacksaw a blowtorch and a beer, hopefully one of those helps me get the job done.

Gimme a minute, I'll do my best with a crappy 1.3megadixel phone cam.

It's hard to get pics that really show anything, here's the best that I can do:

    1130152044.jpg 1130152046.jpg

If you look just to the left of the edge of the skid you will see the vertical piece of the skid that appears to be stuck against the frame...

A big flat head and hammer and just chisel it from that angle? Not sure man I don't see why it shouldn't come off now
