Hey man I've been considering the smittybilt winch that you have. I looked through your thread to see if you had to cut anything to fit it in your pelfreybilt bumper and didn't find it. How did that install go? And are you satisfied?

It fits great with lots of room. No cutting at all. It's saved me a few times. The synthetic line has been good too. My freewheel lever us stuck at the moment but not a big deal. Overall satisfied with it.

@Wishbone Runner I've been talking with Steve from Dirt Designs. I've got a set ordered and asked about a group buy. If we can get 5+ people he'll do them 20% off. For a welded together set of shock bucket tops with the tube ends (the part you notch the crossover to) it's $160 + shipping. So $128 + shipping if we get 5+ people. Feel free to comment if this is correct or not @dirt designs. Also if you wanted this as weld it yourself that might be a possibility too?

I cant remember who else expressed interest without looking back a few pages and i dont have time to right now so speak up if youre interested. I'll make a thread for a GB is we get some interest here quick.

Sweet! I'd be in for a WIY if that would be an option.

    Just a few
I don't have a welder or access to one so I'll take a set of the welded up kits.

Back on gears... Writing it down in here for later ref. Per grimjeeper.com

    4.56 with 295 at 65 = 2533
    4.56 with 295 at 70 = 2728
    4.56 with 295 at 80 = 3118

    4.10 with 295 at 65 = 2277
    4.10 with 295 at 70 = 2453
    4.10 with 295 at 80 = 2803

For reference i checked what i have now below

    3.73 with 285 at 70 = 2260

Which is just about exactly what my scanguage says when my gps says 70. So i can definitely trust the numbers from grimjeeper...

I'm feeling like 4.56 is going to be too much gear for the 295, id rather not run 2700 for 16 hours driving back to WI to visit family, or the 3100 if I wanted to go 80 in the 80mph zones... Honestly I dont plan to go to 35's so that logic does not apply here. I have not looked into 4.10 yet from ECGS but will see if that's a possibility.

You and I must have similar thoughts on a couple things. I go back and forth on gearing all the time. I really like my tall skinny tires. Wouldn't mind a bit more height like the 34 x 10.5 that BFG has now, but the only time I really wish I had different gearing is on all the stupid hills here in the west.

On the freeway I like the low RPMS that I get with stock gears on 33's. On the trail I have never felt like I needed more than what I can get out of 4 lo. In the city I drive like a grandma anyway. But every time I have to climb a steep grade and the little corollas are passing me I think about regearing. Interested to see what you end up doing.

I still am trying to figure out how @TACODOC1 gets away with 4.88s on 33" tires.

I'm mainly trying to run the most geat I can and keep it comfortable on the highway. I would love what the 4.56 would give me in 1st low. Only because I'm a manual trans. If I was an auto it would be different. I forget... Are you an auto @zscott ?

Seems like a small gain for the price if you go 4.10's but I understand why you wouldn't want 4.56's.

Yeah I am an auto. I haven't read up much on the differences between manual and auto although I have heard it mentioned.
