My wife's former DD, a 2002 Blazer ZR2, had the same "AutoAWD" feature.

I guess I've been using part-time 4WD for so long, its hard for me to understand 'when' you'd use it. I guess.... if the roads are beginning to melt and are spotty snow/pavement or maybe in downpours?

...and then I wondered about the CV joints binding up when making tight turns. ?? LOL

I agree, we never used it at all. You know when you need 4WD, there's no need to complicate things!!

My 01 i think gc had the quadridrive system, 3 couplers and self controlled 4wd with the option oflocking it into 4. In theory with 1 wheel spinning the viscous coupling would lock the axle . In town through skew and ice, mixed terrain etc it worked really well. Off road letting it take care of itself wasn't the best option. It was to nice a ride to really subject to real offroading so i never pushed it hard though.

Reliability is worth a lot to me. I traded my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherikee for the Taco after at least 10 recall letters in the mail. Ain't nobody got time for that!

My wife has a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali and it's a beast now but I am concerned about future maintenance.

My wifes uncle owns a Chevy and a Caddy dealership. 1 month after I bought my Tacoma he asked me why didn't I consider the new Colorado? I told him that I did and test drove 2 of them. He then asked me why did I go with the Tacoma? I just mentioned that the Colorado didn't impress power wise over the Tacoma. The Colorado didn't seem like it was that much better interior wise, and the GM quality worried me. That was over 6 months ago.

I saw her Uncle on Thanksgiving and he asked how my Tacoma was. I said awesome and I love it. He said "yea, the Tacoma was a smart choice"........

He's confident in Caddys, not so much with his Chevy line.

That's interesting, a few same vehicles just different line ups lol, aka the Chevy, Caddy, and looks like GMC lol.
