When I first got the truck the Geo's (A/T's) were @ 40 psi. They rode like concrete wheels! I started airing them down until I saw no further detectable gain in comfort AND the gas mileage started dropping. The sweet spot with them was @ 33psi. With the drop from 40 to the 33 psi setting, there was no apparent measurable loss in fuel mileage. ie, they still did OK @ 33psi, just rode a TON smoother.

Duratracs are load range C's. (lighter of all their offerings)

The point of comparison between the two is Geo's are "highway tread" and Duratracs are far more aggressive, more of a mud tire.

My point is, the majority of fuel mileage loss (from one type of tire to another) was mostly negated by increasing tire pressure of the Duratracs. DECREASING psi in the Geo's saw very little if any change in mileage. (With that, the assumption that INCREASING would offer little GAIN) And with THAT, not always a consistent "carved in stone" pattern on how different types of tires behave under different conditions.....The "physics" may stay the same, but adjustments and allowances can negate certain characteristics of any tire(s)

I'm sure we're on the same page with our opinions. Just looking at the same set of facts from different perspectives.
