Mine isn't ruggedized since the summit series hasn't come out yet. I might make the switch since CVT has a program to upgrade your tents. Not sure if Tepui does.

I don't think mine will fail any time soon. Maybe in like decades. It's built well and the fabric is strong. I didn't want heavy fabric since california is never too cold. It works for me. Depending on when you are trying to order, mine will be on my truck when I get back from break on January 3rd or 4th and you are welcome to check it out. I'll finally have expo springs that can deal with the weight.

Edit: I also wanted mine for the size. It is the smallest RTT with an annex from any company. Didn't need a big one for just me and my girlfriend. Not saying I won't ever upgrade.

If you're local to SoCal I'm sure some of us would gladly show ours off in person. I didn't want to buy one until I saw it in person at a meet. I'm in chino if you're around.

I would say go for it. The normal ones can dent a little easier. My philosophy is why buy something twice? Or why buy something mid grade when years down the road you'll wish you had gotten better.
But that's just me. Their regular stuff is great too. Cant go wrong with tepui.

Thanks everyone! I've been repeating buy once, cry once in my head ever since I started with an OME setup and just upgraded to Kings (at least in the front).... No need to spend money twice, just skip to the good stuff, right? Matt, when you get back I would like to check yours out for sure, and perhaps by then I'll even have a place to mount an RTT up to... :spy:

I posted something about my newly acquired RTT in a post related to the racks. Bottom line I ordered on Cyber Monday a Tepui Kukenam Camo and saved $180 on the price. It is on it's way to Puerto Rico and should arrive probably before Christmas  also I am on a waiting list for a Mobtown Bed Rail Rack and hopefully arrives by the same time I receive the tent. Rugerized.. I don't think I need that here, we have no snow, no cold, not extremely windy conditions, so I beleive I am good to go.

Here in Puerto Rico there are no huge forests like in the mainland, but I have a lot of beaches in the island on the warm caribbean sun. So I can have the opportunity to use it year round on the weekends. Also we have no Bears, moose, Mountain Lions or any kind of beast that would be a risk to our safety. I know that camping ona floor tent is cheaper and there is no need for a RTT, but I think it should be fun so I bought it, lol. Also, I have a 2015 Tacoma, so why not be the first here with a RTT? Something different???? I envy you guys that have all those huge parks to camp and explore! :(

4 wheel parts carry Smittybilt awnings, very low prices. I have one and compared it to my friends arb awning, exactly the same. Canvas was the same, poles, the aluminum rails, bag was the same. The name tag on the cover was the only difference.

Great, you will have fun! Stay away from the capital (San Juan) as long as you can. Everything is more expensive there. I will be free from work for the hollidays, so if you want to go around different places than the usual visited by tourists let me know and I can show you the puertorican way.
Enjoy the local beer (medalla), puertorican ilegal rum (moonshine) (don't say it outloud!), go to what we call chinchorros (little country bars)... and more than anything enjoy the island with the longest Christmas Celebrations in the Wolrd! Started by Thanksgiving and will last until the second week of January 2016 :kona::kona::jellydance::jellydance::cheers::cheers:
Just send me a PM or write an email to tcaro66@gmail, more than glad to show you my Island obviously in a Tacoma!!!!!!

Quick question.. How do you attach an awning in the first place? I've got 3 1.25" OD steel tubes holding my tent up and im wondering how i'd go about doing that?

I've seen some members here use steel hose clamps mounting the "L" angles of the awning to their round tubes of there rack. They used 2-3 clamps on each awning "L" bracket. I mount mine directly to my Prinsu Rack above my cab.

Great. I don't think that it is allowed. But there is another forest on the West Coast of Puerto Rico (Maricao National Forest) that is not managed by the US Goverment and there is a camp area. Most camping areas here are by the beaches. Also, I own a nice piece of land in one of the towns of the mountains in Puerto Rico and I can have my personal camping spot, for the weekends. It will be nice, BBQ grill to make my own pinchos, a hamoc during the day and plenty of cold beer to relax and get rid of he daily work stress until Monday arrives.
I just want to do something different than going to a little hotel and at the same tiem enjoy my Tacoma, which I love until now!
