Super excited to get my new stereo installed today. I used the Metra double-din dash kit. I've seen some folks who didn't like, but it fits my Pioneer beautifully!

Next Tuesday I'm getting new Spyder Halo LED Projector headlights and a Westin black bull bar installed.

Hey buddy, they are Helo wheels, but I don't have the model. They were on the truck when I bought it.

As for the stereo, it's a Pioneer AVHX2700BS Double Din with Bluetooth, CD/DVD, etc. I didn't want one with built-in GPS. The Amazon reviews are mixed, but BestBuy reviews were much more favorable. I like it!

Nice! I put the AVH X5700BHS in my Taco and the previous gen version in my Camaro. Never had a problem with either. I noticed you were playing your music via bluetooth. I did that for a year before connecting my iPhone directly with a USB cable. The improvement in sound and volume is off the charts and hard to believe. I highly recommend (if you haven't already done so) attaching via USB!

    Looks good!

In the past 6 months I've put a Pioneer X3600BHS in my Tacoma with Alpine SPR60C speakers and my 2007 Ram 2500 as well with aftermarket speakers. Things sound much better, more features and easier to control as well. I kept the reverse camera, XM and steering wheel controls on both (had to add them and the USB on the Ram).

The double DIN in the Camaro is cool! I've never seen a double DIN in an older one before.

Regarding the wheels, a friend at work has a Tacoma and 4Runner with the same set of wheels. Both were bought used from different places too.

Yeah, I figured that out. I took that photo just a few minutes after it was installed. Spent some time sitting in the truck yesterday to figure out controls.

Speaking of the USB, since it's not in the face of the stereo, where do you run your cord? Right now mine is just hanging, coming out under the dash in the passenger side on the floor. I was thinking of putting a hole in the bottom cubby with a black rubber bushing to make it look clean and running it there. Thoughts?

Someone on here did that - ran the cable under/through the center console and up into the big armrest storage compartment. They had pics of how they did it. Seemed pretty easy. The "bottom" of the compartment is easily removed. He put a small hole in it to run the cable through then bought an "organizer" at Target that attached to the underside of the lid. His iphone tucked into that. I bought the organizer and this mod is on my list of projects.

I'll see if I can find the thread but I'm not very good searching for stuff like that.

Ok, found what I was Looking for. 1st thread has the organizer mounted to the compartment lid. 2nd thread shows where he ran the cable up from the compartment floor. He then ran it out the front of the console, which I won't do.

My idea is to run it up through the compartment floor to the organizer mounted on the underside of the lid. Slide my iPhone in the organizer and plug it in...

Yeah, I'd like to see pics of that! I'm not sure how much I'd like having my phone tucked in the arm rest all the time; that seems a little wonky. I was thinking maybe a small hold w/ rubber bushing on the side of the bottom storage area under the radio - so it could be tucked back in up to the tip of the USB when not using it and just pulled out when I am.

I thought about that very same thing: being able to pull and retract a cable from inside the dash. I was thinking that little compartment to the left and down a bit of the stereo would be a good place for that. I keep my garage door opener there now.

The good thing about these modern radios and phones is that you can make/receive calls, change music, etc... through the stereo while the phone is connected so you may not need to see the phone most of the time.

Oh, this is very helpful! Thanks for posting this! I thought you meant he kept his iPhone IN the arm rest console. That makes sense. And I'm going to order that Grid-it today! Sweet! :)

    Thanks so much!

Yeah, I'm really excited about it's coming along. Honestly, I thought the grille was chrome w/ black mesh. The picture made it look black and shiny when I ordered it. If I can't return it (I'm working on that), I think I'm going to plasti-dip the mesh black. I think it'd look a lot nicer. Thoughts?

I like black accessories myself, but you might have better luck with a high quality spray paint than with plasti dip. I don't know if plasti dip may be too thick for the mesh and will clot up a little. Hard to tell how much space is between it without seeing it in person.

BTW, did you know the white stickers come off the top of your Pioneer? :)

:thumbsup:. Yes. I finally took them off the one in the Taco while sitting at a light the other day. I'll get around to the one in the Camaro. One of these days! It's been so cold that I haven't driven it much lately (needs a heater core so no heat).
