I recently purchased a Paramount grille for my '06 Taco from CarID. I thought from the photos that the mesh was black, but when it arrived it was completely chrome. I've thought about painting it with plasti dip.

    2 Questions:

    1. Should I leave it chrome or paint it black.
    2. If black, would prime / plasti dip be the best option over the plastic mesh?

    Thanks!

    nothing cool
I'd say leave it. You kind of have enough chrome on your truck already that it goes with you style. On the other hand, PLASTIDIP is super super easy. Go ahead and buy a $7 can and try it. If you don't like it spray it with WD40 and it will wipe right off.

I'm pro-chrome but I have also derp'd a lot of stuff on my truck. You have a black/silver theme going on with the black side view mirrors (which may be my next plasti dip project), bug reflector, door handles, and the black bull bar. Plastidip is SUPER easy BUT that is on a flat surface. I don't know about mesh. It would wipe off with wd40 like @Cmurder said, but it may be a pain to try and wipe in all those holes (yeah, I head it too...)

You should dip your hood scoop insert. It looks so good on SSM :D

I would say keep it chrome, if you had a darker truck I would dip.

I think it will be tough to remove the derp on the mesh...so if you want it black, I'd say rattle can it. That said, I think the chrome looks fine on your truck because of your headlights and wheels. Although just painting the mesh black might look pretty cool!

Yeah, I have already bought the primer and plasti dip to do the bumper valance. I think that'll look really good. As for the grille, it actually unscrews from the back, so it will be fairly easy to paint if I choose to do that. I'm just not sure...thanks for the comments!!

Ha! Not a fan of the chrome, eh? Yeah, like I said, I thought it was black when I ordered it. It looks a LOT better w/ the chrome Spyder headlights, but I'm not sure I like so much silver on the front of the truck.

He'll paint it once UCF's wins a football game, looks like it will stay chrome for a long time. JK!

While still chrome drop off the bull bar and see how you like the look w/o it.

My guess is you'll find the front end less clunky looking, and the chrome will even be more complementary to your existing components.

If there's anything behind the grill that is aluminum or gloss black, that I would shoot flat black so it doesn't visually detract from the grill.

This. If you want it black paint it don't dip it. Don't ask me how I know.
