Not to thread jack, but I've been telling everyone who mentions getting an HDTV to just wait until November. Not only will LCD's and Plasmas be at record lows, but Lazar TV's will be on the market. They demoed them at CES this Jan. and they are so much better than anything on the market that I truly believe you would have buyers remorse after seeing one after just buying an LCD or Plasma. They are claiming that they will be priced competitively with the LCD's, they have a Million to 1 contrast ratio (highest that I've seen is 30,000 to one on LCD or Plasma), are more slim than LCD, use less energy, run cooler, and were as the LCD and Plasma can only show 40% of the colors the human eye can detect, Lazars can display 80-85% of the colors.

I have a friend who owns the 52" version. Even after owning it for a year, he said he still misses it while on travel more than anything else in his house (including the wife, kids & dog). :)

A word of advice to those of you looking to buy a huge tv...

Keep a small-screen (preferably 13" or so) television around and hooked up. Few things generate feelings of inadequacy quite like watching porn on a 60" screen.

    That is all.

they do make an awesome product. i have a samsung CRT tv in my room right now. even though its not high def the picture is amazing. they make awesome stuff. so you have enough money to dumpt tens of thousands into an already expensive truck, and buy 40 inch lcd tv's as house warming gifts? you have way too much money, i really think you need to pick me up on your way to key west and cover my tab for the whole trip. apparently you're loaded out the ass

another side note. most of you know this but some dont. a big tv, anything over 42 inches, will look terrible without a high def signal. 50 inchers look great when watching DVD's, especially blue ray, and also look really good with a HD signal. but if the signal is not HD, its barely watchable. my buddy has a 50 inch and not all of his channels are high def. the ones that are look really good, the ones that aren't look really grainy and like they are coming through on a cheap set of rabbit ears. so like i said, thats fairly common knowledge and most of you know that but i do knw some people that regret getting large TV's for that reason

I've been out of rep too and it's killing me!

Coolest thing about quality dvd porn is the ability to switch camera angles on a given shot. Not that I'd know anything about that stuff, but it sounds kinda cool.

I was gonna go with Sony Bravia, then looked at Samsung, then looked at Vizio....for the price difference I had to go with Vizio as the picure was just about the same and the price was 1/2 of the Sony and $400 less than the Samsung.
