Hey everyone, I'm interested in some off road protection for the rear of the vehicle. I would like to keep the factory bumper. Does anyone make sliders for the area aft of the rear wheels and rear bumper? Everything I find requires replacing the rear bumper.

I know there isn't a lot to choose from for gen 3 yet. But perhaps there are some gen 2 examples?

    Thanks!

It sounds like you're looking for the equivalent of a "rear bull bar" or "rear brush guard" - you know that when those things are applied to the front - they're purely cosmetic and don't offer any real protection right?

The rear ones are different. Different angles provide better protection.

    Top one isn't bad..

I dunno how effective it is, but I've seen a lot worse. Black bars with a black bumper looks fine and dandy, IMO.

Would like to see some more quarter panel protection. But black Line-x bars on my Quicksand TRDOR might look decent...

That top one is pretty bad ass without going high clearance that would be something I'd look at but how the hell do they mount

Not sure anything wrap around would be much protection from impact. The bars are largely unsupported to begin with, wraparound bars on the rear quarter would need to have something tying them to the frame to be of much strength.

Click on the link I posted.

There's 2 bars that run underneath the bumper, on either side of where a receiver would be.

    This?

    http://www.avidoffroad.com/cart/ind...12-2014-toyota-tacoma-front-bumper-guard.html

Looks like a light bar to me.

I'm hard pressed to imagine any offroading situation I've been in where that would prevent any damage.

Fortunately, equipment providers don't need to be "endorsed by bjmoose" in order to sell stuff. :D I'm not sure which of us would hate such a requirement more.

Seems cools and those look alright but why not just go with aftermarket off-road bumper and keep OEM for when you need it?
