The ARB CKMA12 compressor comes with a great harness and looking at numerous posts it seems like a straight forward install however I want to use the AOB switch instead of the ARB switch. This seems a little more complicated. Has anyone attempted this?

I have previously hooked up a light bar with an AOB switch with fuse/relay with no issues.

Using diagram 1 AOB indicates their switch must be installed with a fused relay. Is a second relay required as the ARB already has one? Also if a relay is required which of the ARB wires would go to 87 at the AOB relay? Any info would be appreciated.

My ARB compressor and f/r lockers are wired through air on board switches. No need to use any additional relays, you are using a different switch only.

You will have to spend some time with both wiring harness instructions and figure out how to put them together. Well if you're not running lockers it is pretty simple. You just need to look at the instructions for both and interpolate which wires connect to the others.

Those switches look great on your dash, just like a factory application! Thanks for confirmation on the relay, I wasn't 100% on that and also the 3A fuse requirement on the diagram. Looking at the diagrams the red/yellow AOB looks to run to the red on ARB harness. I'm going to power it through my Blue Sea fuse block and get this done!

Brjw, Thanks again for your help. Really like your setup with the solar panels and the dual battery location is a great idea!

Quick question about this: I’ve wired an AOB switch to my ARB comp and everything works just fine, but the graphic portion of the switch is constantly lit even when the switch is in the “off” position and even when the dash lights are off. The text portion of the switch illuminates with the rest of the dash lights like it should.

So.. How do I get the graphic portion to only illuminate when the switch is in the “on” position?

it sounds like you have constant power to the graphic you may have one of your wires on the wrong terminal

Yeah I bet you’re right. I’ll pull it out and look at it today. I might just have to test some different configurations.
