funny you say that about getting winched out, guy in the jeep that tried it back in July tried winching himself out but didn't have any luck. Was digging himself more into the top vertical part and needed more of a lift to get up and over it

 

I know a trick or two that would probably deal with it if someone has a snatch block. Just have to put a tree saver as high as you can get it on a decent-sized tree (usually by standing on someone's truck) and with the snatch block connected to the tree saver, it should give a high enough angle to pull over the top. The other trick is, just don't spin the wheels. Stick it in neutral and let the winch do the work. Not sure if all that would be enough, but I think as close as I was, I would have come out.

That'd be a nice setup, as long as the housing came bare, without those jeep suspension brackets on it

 

I'm pretty sure you could get it however you want it. Says it comes in standard or custom lengths and you can specify your desired castor and pinion angles. I doubt they'd have a problem leaving the brackets off. Less work for them and they might even give you a break price-wise, though it probably wouldn't be much. Especially since they probably want it's weight in gold for the axle to begin with, haha.

 

Oh they do, I've priced them before for my old tundra. But in reality, after you buy an old axle and build it up with all the good stuff (like in my case), the price difference really isn't too bad. And knowing you're getting a brand new, not bent axle built with modern day equipment and technology is a big pro with buying brand new.

 

Just out of curiosity, how much do they get for them? I'm guessing the axle would probably be worth more than my truck by probably half again.

 

I don't recall, it was 8 years ago when I priced one. And I think I priced a 60 and not a 44..... Hell I don't remember haha
