UPDATE 12/27/23: Multiple Homelink Mirror Options for the 2016-2023 Tacoma's

UPDATE 12/27/23 - YES, THESE ARE STILL AVAILABLE!

Hey all!

Jjust wanted to let everyone know that we have Homelink mirrors available for the 2016 thru 2023 Tacoma's. As long as your truck came equipped with the factory auto dim or compass auto dim mirror with the 12 pin / 3 wire plug, these mirrors will be plug & play. These will also work on trucks equipped with the optional safety systems! HOWEVER...if you have a 2020 thru 2022 truck, please be sure to read the important notice below regarding a wiring issue on these trucks.

If your truck had a plain mirror, Toyota no longer pre-wires the trucks for the mirrors, so for these you will need a wiring harness kit to wire in the mirror yourself (wiring kits are $25 including the harness & installation hardware). We have info on where to find the wiring in the A pillar and will include it with the mirror.

We currently have a few options:

1. Used Homelink® mirrors with white compass & blue backlit buttons (same as the OEM mirrors used in the 2014-2015 Tacoma). These would be $189 & come with a 1 year warranty. Occasionally we have mirrors with white compass & white backlit buttons...same price.

2. Various used Homelink® mirrors available - $149 - we have these with the hidden light blueish-greenish display (these don't have the small compass window in the glass so the compass letters appear to float behind the glass), standard light blue display, amber display, and green display. The mirrors with green display are direct plug and play, as they already have the 12 pin plug on back, and these mirrors also have green backlit buttons. The rest include adapter harnesses, and those mirrors do not have backlit buttons. 1 year warranty on these mirrors. Side note regarding the "hidden" display mirrors only...$169 now gets you a BRAND NEW mirror with 3 year warranty!!

3. Used Homelink® mirror with blue compass display & blue backlit buttons (very similar to the mirrors offered by Toyota in the 2016-2023 Tacoma Limited), also direct plug & play as they also have the 12 pin plug on back. These mirrors are $159 and have a 1 year warranty. 4. BRAND NEW mirror with blue compass display & blue backlit buttons & Homelink® version 5 - identical to the factory optional one offered by Toyota - we now have them available once again, and your price on these is $309 including shipping. Being that these are brand new mirrors, they come with a 3 year warranty. IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING 2020 thru 2023 MODEL YEAR TRUCKS: many 2020-2023 Tacoma's do not have power to the constant hot wire in the mirror plug (this is the wire on the bottom row of the connector). Even though the wiring is there, it's dead. This is actually not something new...Toyota pulled the same shenanigans with the Camry a few years back & put the wiring in place, only to find out the wire is dead.

So for anyone with a 2020-2023 Tacoma who is wanting to purchase one of our Homelink mirrors, please check for constant power across the wire in the bottom row of the connector and the fourth wire from the left in the top row of the connector. If you get nothing showing up on the voltmeter, then that means your truck has the dead wire. In that case, we can supply you with an adapter harness (we will offer these at a discount for $20 when purchased with the mirror) that would plug inline between the existing mirror wiring and the Homelink mirror, sending ignition power to the mirror and to the Homelink buttons. In this case, Homelink will then only work with the ignition on. This adapter is also an option for 2016-2019 Tacoma's in the event you want Homelink to only operate when the ignition is on.

The prices on the mirrors include shipping & insurance within the US; 6% sales tax is additional in Michigan, +$30 additional shipping to Canada.

Pix of the hidden compass Homelink mirror attached this time around! First three pix show the hidden compass mirror - this one has a light blueish-greenish compass display (sorry for the bad pic - I can't get the display to show the true color for some reason), and the last three show the white compass Homelink mirror.

I'm guessing the mirror comes with installation instructions. How difficult is it to install? Or put another way, how badly can I screw up my new truck. I have remotes for both my gate and garage and I hate the clutter.

 

gonna mark this for future reference. right on i just have a keychain remote double sided taped next to my steering wheel. this is definitely a nice upgrade for not too bad of a price.

 

It's not very difficult to install. However because these mirrors are slightly different than the autodim compass mirrors Toyota is offering in the trucks, the wiring harness does not plug into the back of the mirror housing. Rather, the wiring on the mirror comes thru the stem and the mating 12 pin connector is attached to the end of the wiring. So once you remove the original mirror and plug in the new mirror, you'll have some excess wiring to hide, so you'll need to remove the overhead console and pull the excess wiring up there. The console is held in place with 4 pins or clips, and it just pops out (we include instructions with the mirrors). Then just pull any excess wiring up there and replace the console, then install the wire cover between the mirror & headliner, program the Homelink buttons & calibrate the compass & you should be all set. 10-20 minute job, that's about it.

 

Installed mine last night. Easiest mod ever, and Bob was terrific! Thanks Bob!

Hi Bob, I am interested in option #1, where do I send the money. Is this direct swap with 2016 mirrors and plug and play?

 

If you have a factory auto-dim, it's plug and play. If you haven't received a response from Bob, he responded pretty quickly to me via email at rearviewmirrors@csinet.net.

Bob’s Mirror’s is legit!!! AWESOME customer service, very honest, great communication... shoot him an email if you need/want a mirror. He also has an eBay store, but I’d recommend just emailing him.

When I last interacted with him (and bought my mirrors) he had several options available- new and used mirrors. And the used mirrors are just fine. You can trust him 100%.

NMTrailRider is correct...though we do have an eBay store, just use that for a reference point if needed...contact me directly, as I can definitely work out better pricing not having eBay involved, and not just for mirrors...if there's anything else you see, the same applies! Still working on getting our actual website going, but that's proving to be a painstakingly slow process...but the good news is that it's coming along, just working on loading product, hoping to launch in the next month or two.

 

Has anyone found where the 2020 wire is missing the connection to the 12v constant and added it back?
