Sometimes a little organization goes a long way.

Today I found this white plastic bin in my garage and tried it in the truck bed and it fit right in. I'm going to see if I like it there for daily driver duties. It sits flush with the wheel well and can serve as a catch all for loose crap that I throw in the back of the truck and don't want rolling around. My 3-year old helper liked it and promptly filled it right up. It's secured with a bit of Velcro at the top and the paracord which has been there for truck eons.

Start with a $2 side LED light and a $1.50 Ace Hardware threaded rubber flange
Screw the LED into the flange as far as it will go. LED is metric and flange is SAE so if only goes so far. Use the nut and washer to secure the LED to the flange

Now the fun part, push the large part of the rubber flange up into the hole in the grill support. Use a rounded object to push it from the bottom.
Takes time, but it gives you a nice firm fit and no drilling required

Now you can turn the flange to make sure the LED fires straight out the grill. Or back into the radiator if you want. Or the side.....

I added a bunch of wire loom to protect the thin wires, and ran the lights off my driver's side parking light.

And that's it! Now I have my pseudo Raptor lights

I got this bed light set for Xmas. It's $20 at Walmart. It has 3M tape or small screws and you can simply plug into the trailer plug or hardwire it. image.jpg

where did you get the lights so cheap?

Nevermind- I found them wicked cheap on gearbest.com. I ordered 2 sets shipped for just over $7.
I may take the second set and put them under the dash to come on with the dome lamp.

Thank you for the good idea!

Yours are cheaper but mine ship faster! Can't wait to do this. How did you end up splicing into your parking lamp wire?

Driver's side signal/parking/DRL connector. I tapped in using the yellow (+) and white (-) wires. I strip and solder, but you could use splice taps if you want. I find the tap won't fit under the wire loom, so I solder.

I like it! Will do that on my next wiring job. This appears to be a solid mechanical and with some solder a real good electrical connection. I always worry that my solder jobs may come loose under vibration since I often cold solder. I use a high watt gun and bake the wires to get a good melt, but it's usually a rush job. This way would ensure the connection stays together. Thanks!
