Firstly NEVER FIRE A WARNING SHOT. Especially in MD. If you are in fear for your life you shoot the perp. If you fire a warning shot you weren't in immediate fear of your life... At least that's the way they see it. Just like you don't shoot to maime or wound. It could be argued that you weren't in fear for your life if you only shoot to maime or wound. You could counter that with having buck shot every other round, by attempting to say that the bird shot eliminated the threat so there was no need to proceed to the buck shot, however you open yourself up to a civil suit by the perp because you maimed them for the rest of their life. I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice. However from different things I've read from self defense articles maiming is a weak defense.

Apparently in 2010 MD passed a law that protects you from civil suits when shooting in self defense is justified. That's good to know. This applies to inside your home or business. If outside you have the duty to retreat unless otherwise incapable.

The castle doctrine in MD is very weak. They basically want you to flee or corner yourself before you can defend yourself.

I'll do me, you do you

The idea of the warning shot is that if the person is breaking in or is outside stealing your car, you can shoot into the ground or a tree to stop them and simply get a minor fine for discharging a firearm instead of having a massive legal dispute in which you will lose because you shot them when the law did not permit it.

Ideally, you hold the suspect for help (police). No one should want to shoot anyone.

I know the idea behind it.... However legally its not wise. You don't discharge your weapon unless you feel your life is in danger and as you stated the protection for using guns in self defense in this state is extremely weak so I wouldn't risk a warning shot especially in this state. Lol I'm not advocating you to shoot anyone and I agree no one should want to shoot anyone.

All in all, it scares me to death. I feel like I won't be ready to defend myself in this state because i'm worried about laws made by people who don't know what they're doing.

I hate talking about this shit on an open forum. I will be deleting my posts.

Does anyone have a spare 3rd? either a 8.4" rear or the 8" IFS. There is a group buy on on ARB stuff and I'm thinking it might not be a bad item to grab a locker and setup a 3rd on my free time as I go and just do a swap when I'm ready vs having long down time on the taco.

I know I know I post to many project pictures, but all the painting is done and I'm happy. Top box looks great in my opinion and isn't going anywhere!
