I have an 02 tacoma ext cab 4x4. I need to replace the dc joint and the dealer is telling me it's a non serviceable part. It has outter clips on the caps and does not have the ball style joint in the center. I know it can be repaired I just need to know what ujoint will fit. Any help will be appreciated

OP, I'm going to throw a couple of links your way that I hope will help you out and answer your question, as I have no answer for you.
The 1st link is written by a member on TW and in the 2nd post there's a link (4x4wire.com) which explains and illustrates the DC joint.
The following links are to shops that specialize in drive lines. Good luck.

I've already spoke with high angle drive line , he couldn't do anything. I also spoke with the cruise link on the thread you provided he said I needed a part number from toyota which they will not give out. the other 2 links only provide the front and rear joints which area little bigger than the doc joints, but I do appreciate the help and input

Well that stinks! I do know that the dealership sells the DC but it comes as a unit, which means the driveshaft is included. I don't think that's what you want, besides it's cost prohibitive. The parts guy at our dealership is easy to get along with, perhaps I can squeeze a part number out of him if they have it.

Here are a few more sites you can look at, they do custom work and list DC joints on there web site. The last one is for domestic vehicles only, but if the other two can't help you out, then maybe they can steer you in the right direction. You can even call Spicer and see what they have to say.

Do you have a local drive line shop close to you ??

I have found that is most often your best option.

i know it is for me I don`t mess with u joints (anymore) I can get them installed cheaper then I can buy the same joints

use search for the forum, a week or so ago there was another thread on this and links were given to the place to get your u-joints from to fix it.

as far as I know there is at least one aftermarket brand that makes u-joints to fit it and you will find this info there in that thread.

many people give up on trying to find out how to fix it and just go to salvage yard and buy a used drive shaft and call it a day

OP, my trip to the parts counter wasn't a total waste of time. They did not have part numbers for the DC joint as it is a non-serviceable part which had been previously mentioned. However, you can buy a complete assembled DC joint which includes the rear driveshaft, slip yoke, rear u-joint and attaching hardware for over $1000.

The parts fella let me behind the counter and to look through the parts catalog. There are two different DC joints, type "A" and type "B". You would have to provide your V.I.N. to determine which type you have.

The part numbers he provided for the different DC joints are: 37110-3D230, 37110-3D240 & 37110-3D400. I doubt from those numbers you'd be able to determine what u-joints they are.

Looks like the best (not necessarily the easiest) way is to disassemble the DC and mic it out. The Spicer website has illustrations with measurements. Or perhaps one of the phone numbers from above will workout.

I did manage to get my oil filter though, so not a wasted trip.
