    You make it sound like the quick latch system is overkill... thank you for the info. I'll be buying one tonight.

    It's not overkill by any means - it just works.

    I like the bed extender and wouldn't get anything but the rectangular version. It is big enough for an average size trip (for me) to the grocery store which is nice.

    Maybe we are talking 2 different things here..

    I'm referring to the quick latch system here

    http://www.amazon.com/AMP-Research-...8-1&keywords=amp+research+bed+extender+tacoma

    Is that what your using? or are you using the mounts that come with the bed extender?

    I'm using the ones that came with it. To me, I would not buy any other mounts. It is secure and removes with one hand, no fiddling with latches. Unnecessary and with the tailgate locked, the extender cannot be removed. I was surprised how nicely it worked right out of the box. Clips would just mean having to fiddle around with it to get the thing to come out of the truck.

    @unixadm

    Its interesting because the amp research site says the quick latch system is required when using the bed extender in combination with tonneau cover or shell. Not sure about the logic behind it, but I would prefer to have to open the tailgate to remove it since it can be locked with a key.

    Thanks again,

    What bed mat is that? I didn't see the brand mentioned. Thanks. Your truck as a whole looks killer.

    Well that could make sense. I do have to open my bed cover to remove the bed extender (also to open it), where the latched version may allow you to remove it without opening the bed cover. However in most cases if I needed to remove the bed extender, I would most likely be opening up the bed cover (same as if I wanted to extend it). With a shell, I don't see why this would be an issue since it should fold open with the shell window in place.

    Thanks. It's the Toyota OEM bed-mat for the 2005-2015 Tacoma. I actually received a long bed mat from Amazon (they screwed up) and ended up getting it for free. I cut off the front foot of the mat since free was better than selling it and buying the correct one.

    Unixadm,

    Could you provide the name and part #/ link for the bed mat?
