Mesh Grille?

Hey TW,

Im looking to make my grille look better. I like the mesh look, I can't seem to find anything on this topic. Figured I would ask if anyone knew while i continue to search.

So, did you end up getting one? Are you planning to make a homemade mesh grille or just buy aftermarket one like Grillcraft?

 

I plan on going with a mesh insert from custom car grilles and doing it myself, but I'm still not 100%. I'm doing it to be able to put lights behind it.

600$ for a price of mesh that I can get prebent for 50-70 bucks is absurd. Watch the install videos, takes maybe 2 hours.

 

Actually @HomerTaco does more than just installing a piece of mesh. He gives you an option to have the grille sit back a bit with a lip. With that price, it also includes a brand new color matched grille.

 

I didn't pay $600.

I'm in the (slow) process of doing the exact same thing. I ordered the Diamond XXL - which seemed like a good compromise for letting a lot of light through. The site lists it as 70% open. Most of the grills I see on this site are 50%. I mean, they look good, but my main concern is light output.

Yeah, i didn't know it came with the color coded grill. I have a color coded grill already. I wish there was a kit that would just replace the insert instead of having to get the dremel out and cutting pieces out.

 

i feel like the light would be so close to the grill, it wouldn't affect it too much unless you got something really closed. But what do i know.

 

I'm pretty sure that even with a grillcraft insert you've gotta do some cutting... Regardless, any mesh kit is better looking than stock IMO.

 

Ive come to terms with the fact that I have to cut my grill up. It took me a while, but I'm there. How do yours install Homer? do you have a video?

 

No videos - there's a shit ton of satoshi write ups here on TW. My mesh is designed to mount from the back after the mod is complete.
