Could be possible. I would have thought that if they have a laser cutter and all that jazz in a ware house, it wouldn't matter. Maybe it's just poor r&d for tacomas.

I love my weathertechs I just "modified" the figment so that 1) they won't slide around if I'm bouncing from clutch to brake to gas around town 2) don't have to worry about my foot slipping off road 3) still easy to clean :) (although I never do lol)

Below is a pic of the finished product. I would have to remove the four Philips screws holding the door will to show where I trimmed the mat.

I got a note from Weatherteck and as a previous poster mentioned he said to fold them inside out. My first attempt was to turn it upside down and force the edge out by weighting it down with a heavy rubber boot. That worked for a day then it reverted back to the 1 inch gap. I will try the inside out method and see how it works. Not something we should have to be doing for a 75 dollar single mat. Funny but they got 3/4 of the set right.
I still think it is caused by the foot rest pad on the Tacoma. They did not design that area correctly. I will report back in a day or so.

I got the universal WeatherTech mats for my DC - not the molded floor liners - on sale for $50 at Crappy Tire this week.

I quickly threw them in and have to say I'm pretty impressed. Passenger side fits like a glove. However, the Rears could use more coverage around the base of the outer floor (closest to door sill)

The DS needs a quick trim - but from what I can tell, it's basically just around the dead pedal, and MAYBE an inch or so around the throttle pedal.

    Regular price was about $100

Tried the inside out trick and they are back to a 1 inch gap. Oh well I guess I will have to live with it. Last set I will buy.

But For the cost of these mats - your shouldn't have to do any work.

That's why I went with the cut to fit - After reading the fitment issues on here.

DS fits nicely...A few notches out around the dead pedal and the throttle

PS fits perfect without any trimming

Figured I'll add to this one. I've had the digital fit WT mats for my double cab for 5 years now. When I first got them, they had the same gap as the OP. Somewhere I read that it's recommended to leave them in the sun for a while to soften them up (I installed them in the summer, so I left them on the driveway for a couple of hours). To this day, the gap is still there, but it is only a small one (maybe 1cm) it just doesn't bother me. The biggest bother is that I am constantly moving my foot from the clutch to the foot rest and this causes dirt and crap to fall off of my boots. Since the floor mats don't cover the false pedal completely, the dirt collects underneath it and gets into the carpet pretty badly around it.

On another note, the only other spot that dirt gets through, is the holes for the hooks. I would recommend you fill the hole with some silicone.

Yea I love the weathertech mats except for the fact that they only go half way up the kick panel. So it ends up scraping dirt off my boots and ending up under the mat. That's the only place dirt gets through.
