Last couple days have been mid 80-90's with afternoon thunderstorms everynight. Last week 100's and 40+ mph wind day and night.

We were in Seattle last week and they were unusually cool with mid 60's and no rain at all.

Same here in PA.... that really HOT spell a week or so ago. 95+ and the humidity is the WORST!! When it gets that hot around here - the power company shuts down our plant. I got cancelled off work for 2 days last week (Monday/Tuesday).

This week it's been average 75-85 temps.

Tonight 60-70 mph winds, heavy rain, flash flooding, and hail up to golf ball.

I just did the full yard treatment earlier today. Edging, mowing, trimming bushes and trees, fertilizer, and watered. So I asked for it right.

You've got to understand that when it rained 40 days and nights a few years back it only settled the dust around here.;)

Our company (my employer) doesn't do it...

The power company calls them up and says.... Shut'r down!! I'm assuming the power company does that because the demand for electricity is sooo much higher. Shutting down manufacturing plants helps the power grid.

Apparently - my employer has some deal with the power company where they are allowed a certain amount of many *buy thru's* - where they can deny a plantwide shutdown. In other cases, they have no choice. When the power company calls and says, SHUT R DOWN.....it's an emergency shutdown.

its been hot and humid as hell here in rock hill, sc too. last year, it was hot....but not as humid at the beginning of june....this year its been too damn hot already. just wait till july and august. definitely gonna be a scorcher again!!

we did the needed yard work out at the lake house today, mowing, raking, limb/stick removal, for our 4th of july party. got finished in time for a good ol thunderstorm to come thru too. even killed a copperhead....came out while we were raking. usually....i dont like killing snakes too much, but with little ones playing around the yard there.......the copperhead had to go!

when i was in 9th grade we moved into a new house just a couple of miles from our old one. we just needed the space. anyway, the very first morning we stayed there we went downstairs and found a scorpion in our sink. then my dad went out back to start clearing away some brush and found a nest with about a dozen broken eggs in the ground and saw 3 copperheads sitting in the nest. it was a copperhead nest. we killed the 3 babies we found and have no idea where the mama or the other 9 ran off to. the baby copperheads are the most dangerous apparently. when adults bite they can control how much venom they release, but baby snakes dont have that ability, so if you get bit by a baby copperhead it will realease most if not all of its venom and you can be much more fatal than a regular bite. i felt like we moved into a rain forest that first week we were there. and you better believe i didnt take a single step in that yard without carefully looking where i was stepping each time
