So I haven't seen anything to answer this question and maybe you fine gent/gals can point me in the right direction. I just bought bigger tires and will be mounting my new spare in the bed. 1: has anyone come up with a good solution for mounting an air compressor where the spare tire used to be? 2:does anybody have any experience with the ARB compressors? (gift cards come into play here. The website I have money toward only sells ARB) 3: will I have to fab up a box/case to keep dirt/debris out of the compressor motor? Any input would be much appreciated and remember to keep the shiny side up!

Oh crap. :( I'm on my phone at work and can't find the right link. There are at least two threads here where the OPs mounted compressors in the bed cubbies with tanks either in or behind the spare tire well. For now here is this. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oba-on-board-air-mega-thread-bs.299523/

I have the single ARB, it is a great little comp, if I were to do it again Id buy the ARB double.

I definitely clicked that link about ten times last night and began to wonder if I had indulged in too many beers. Thanks for all the input guys! That OBA mega thread opened a can of worms. Looking at under the hood option as well as behind the passenger tail light.

Heat is the enemy of an air compressor, and is what limits the duty cycle. Under the hood is already warm/hot to start with.

The wire harness that is comes with works for the under hood location, if mounted near the rear of the truck you would have to extend all of the wires.
