I was changing the plugs on my 04 Prerunner but couldn't get the #2 plug out. I broke a 3/8" extension in the process. Picked up a strong magnet from HF and got the socket out. Soaked the hole with PB blast over night and tried again with a 1/2" drive socket. Yup plug came out but not the threaded portion. :(

That's one way to take care of the problem.

Jk, wow this sucks but the shop is warm, I'm guessing I need to remove the valve cover for starters?

Oh and don't forget to use anti-size lubricant next time you install those spark plugs.

Interesting to see an NGK failed like that. Thought only Champions did that....

Removing the valve cover wouldn't get you very far I don't think, as the tube the plug sits in will still be there. Doesn't really free up any more space, you could try and remove the tube as well, But I think there's a special tool for that.

Be carefull you don't break the extractor off in there. I've had good luck using an impact gun with one of the square extractors just don't use a real high setting. The vibration combined with the penetrant might just get it out.

Holy shit, have not seen that in awhile. Send the pics to "Denso" & see what they say or try something similar to this:

Op should try removing it by hand first using ball peen hammer, extraction tool and liquid wrench.

Liquid wrench should be used and let it sit for about 30 min. before trying to extract the threaded piece.

If you do go with one of those EZ Out / Speed-Out tools, be sure to wipe a good magnet down the length of the tool a few times, until it'll hold up a small nail, before you start working it into what's left of the plug. That way any shavings will cling to the tool rather than dropping down into the cylinder.

    Good luck.
