    I know I remember someone talking about the handheld CBs. Who was that? I don't want to hard mount one that I'll only use a few times per year.

    I spent somewhere around 110-120ish for my cobra19, 4' firestik, hd antenna spring, quick disconnect, and 18' coax cable. You know you want to hardwire one anyway.

    I have a
    $100 Midland 75-822 40 Channel CB-Way Radio
    Midland 75-822 hand held that I use in the truck with a K40 magnetic mount antenna. I know you have a shell, but I just run the wire for the antenna through the sliding glass rear and up to the front where I have the CB plugged into the 12v power in the dash. I'm still able to close the sliding rear window as well.

    This is the same as my setup. I've never used an SWR meter on it but it works nice. Soldering is required. One side doesn't have a connector on it. Makes it easier to run into the cab if you are planning on going through the e-brake cable boot as I did.

    I did. I have no problem with that. The ring in attached you have to solder the connection to the CB. I just don't know if it would be as good as quality as the traditional connection.
