Ok so have a button that has a car with squiggly lines through it when I head its is LSD on.
Now I'm not sure this is true or not but in a sport model they have the same button but all it does is turn the traction control off?

    @ODNAREM, @goblue82

Just in case you want to know, you can get 35W RF amps to increase range. You would need to buy:
    1) Mirage B-34 Vhf\Uhf amp (about $100 note: for this setup you DO NOT need the pre-amp version of this amp)
    2) external antenna whether it is "frame" mount or mag mount (note: in this case a mag mount is probably more preferred)
    3) for Baofeng radios you would, most likely, need a F-F SMA barrel adapter (about $3)
    4) Male SMA to SO-239 pigtail (note: I think they usually come in 1' and 3' lengths... I would get the 3' length... this is used to avoid snapping the mount on the radio... if you want I should be able to show you a picture of the cable setup?) Anyways... I believe the 3' pigtails are about $14

When said and done you will probably still be saving money and still not have to get a mobile and be able to utilize what you already have!!! Keep in mind, you can easily go "portable" with this type of setup!!!

That I know of, most "HT"'s (I.e. Hand Transceiver), like the UV-5R, output a max of 5W. By increasing the RF output you will definitely get more than 2-8mi range of what your unit will achieve by itself for radio-to-radio communications (i.e. a Simplex setup... note: when it comes to range and wattage, aLOT of factors are involved). Of course, if you have a HAM license, you can connect to repeater sites, which helps greatly, but you would still, on occasion, need RF ooomph for increased range!!! I can EASILY connect to the Huntington Beach repeater from La Puente on 5W using my Yaesu Ft-60R HT and my Baofeng UV-5R HT!!! But keep in mind that this is a repeater connection and NOT a 5W radio-to-radio connection!!!:ballchain:;)

    Something to think about?;)

The only thing is is that the RF amp, stated above, is a 120V AC type unit! So if your rig doesn't have a built-in inverter then you would need to setup a DCtoAC inverter unit, which are not all that expensive nowadays and you wouldn't need 1000W+ inverter just for a RFamp, like above. Not even close!!! 100W or much less would do!!! I have a 400W inverter setup for other things\options.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, I might be able to answer them?

AWESOME turnout!!! Hopefully I might be able to go next time? I help take care of my mom over the weekends and work a regular job during the weekdays. Anyways...

    Happy Wheel'n people

Wow, man! Thanks so much for that write up. I would love to pick your brain and perhaps get your help on setting up my ham outfit. I'm very new to the ham world (like brand new) but I did just buy the study guide to get my license. I figure ham knowledge in invaluable. Not just for wheeling but in general -- never know when disaster may strike. I don't just wanna learn the basics. I'd like to become seasoned at it. I know you're a busy man but maybe we can get together sometime for a meeting of the minds and trails. It's not everyday someone is so generous with their knowledge. I've found a few (definitely not all) people to be a bit cocky when it comes to ham as if they forgot they started somewhere as well. Anyway, bud, thanks again! I'll be looking into this more. Thank you again.
    Greg

You're welcome. Yes, the thing with:
    1) CB you have aLOT of uncivilized individuals, if you get my meaning. I mean it can get downright pathetic on CB!!! But, there are decent folk to talk to as well! It is the bad DNA that was able to penetrate and proliferate through the gene pool that gives CB a bad rap, in my humble opinion!
    2) Yes, some HAM's can be VERY snobbish and cocky a-holes!!!
I have NO time for these idiotic a-hole individuals and with that said, life is just too F'N short for that nonsense!!!:infantry:

I'll try to help as much as possible. Just PM (a.k.a. "Conversation") me!!!
