    Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
    Looking at installing a Hayden tranny cooler on my 2003. Over on t4r.org it'a common to put these on 4Runners. I know about the "pink milkshake deal". I always replace the radiator on automatic vehicles when I buy them as preventatve maintenance. Seems the common thing to do is to take the radiator cooling section out of the system by just running the Hayden cooler and blocking off the radiator from the system. But Im looking for additional cooling on top of the factory setup. How do most have theirs set up? Thanks.

    Honestly you can do it either way, the tacomas don't seem to have the "pink milkshake" issue that the 4runners have.

    When I replace mine I will do it fairly complexly, I'm going to replace the radiator with the manual transmission version and install a larger transmission cooler with a bypass for when it's very cold.

    Size the cooler according .

    I for one can`t figure out why Tacoma`s don`t experience the Pink Milkshake as often as 4Runners or is it people swap out things before it happens.

    There is a pretty good explanation thread on this forum or t4r.org I think explains this. I just can't find either one now. Its the radiators aren't made the same. One is all aluminum, one is aluminum and something else. I just don't remember which is what. Pappy's memory is not what it used to be.

    Aquatic Tacoma do a search for "Hayden Tranny Cooler Install" on this forum. You'll find the info there. I followed it when I installed my tranny cooler. Run the fluid lines all the way to the factory hardlines. I used plastic bushings instead of metal ones when mounting the cooler. i dropped he tranny pan and cleaned everything and installed a new filter before while installing the cooler. Tranny runs quiet and cool now, shifts real nice too!!

    I've heard of the pink milkshake thing, but never experienced it myself, and it doesn't seem to be all that prevalent in the Tacomas. Seems like there are more people who are paranoid of it happening vs. people it's actually happened to.

    If you want to 100% guarantee it doesn't happen, obviously get a new trans and an aux trans cooler. Get the biggest one you can fit and don't think about it ever again.

    Vast majority of people just throw a cooler inline with the factory cooler and do just fine.

    Installation is super easy. Hardest part is just physically mounting the cooler. Remove the trans cooler line on the driver side bottom of the rad (right by the engine coolant return), connect that to the aux cooler, then connect the other end of the aux cooler to that line you just took off.

    It's an easy install, I have a TRD trans cooler on mine and per instructions you should run it inline with the factory cooler on the radiator
