I'm in Orange County CA and I don't have a front plate. We should have it but I prefer not to have it on. Only time I ever got a ticket for it was when i was parked in Los Angeles.

I've been without a front plate on every vehicle I've owned since turning 16. Not one time have I ever been given any shit for it. Not once. I have several friends that are LEO and they say that unless you're pulled over for something else and decide to be a dick to the cop, you'll likely never hear about it. Even then, it's a fix it ticket.

 

Just ordered mine, I'm in Orange and the same for me, haven't had a front plate for 25 years. This is cheaper than a new plastic piece panted to matched. Last two trucks were ordered and never had the front plate installed.

 

Front plates are BS. I bought a old Ranchero GT here in Chesapeake VA back in the 80's and the steel front license plate bracket was hosed up and curled up under the bumper. Got a ticket the 2nd day I drove it. Cop actually peeled out, smoking tires like Starsky and Hutch chasing a perp, to give me the ticket. Could not mount a plate and did have it displayed in windshield and my infant daughter was in the car seat with me. The Judge made me pay a fine for improper equipment. Front plates on every damn vehicle since. And it sucks. Thank you Virginia. Virginia is for lovers, not drivers. I did however repent by replacing speedo gears to get friends out of speeding tickets for $50 a pop.

It's all wired up too... next project is to buy a new switch for the light... I got my grill from ECG Fabrication. I wouldn't recommend them though.

 

Since I’ve bought this truck I’ve be wanting a GoPro camera but with a $600 truck payment that will be on hold for a while so I started looking around to find an alternative. I stumbled on a velocity clip that will clip right into the GoPro mount and hold any phone.

Price $40 + $5 for 3 day shipping.

I record the video below with an iPhone 6s 128 gig in 4k. (you have to manual select 4k)

Clips right into the GoPro mount but looked a little loose and had vibration concerns but with the iPhone image stabilization it looks good even over the speed bumps. (the iPhone plus is suppose to have better image stabilization)

I found it on Amazon but there is a better deal through the velocity clip website, same price as amazon but you get a handle bar mount with it.

So far so good but my phone was a little warm recording with the sun on it for about 12 mins or so. (something to consider)

I the large and infamous Sport hood scoop makes an appearance (Like I could hide that thing!)

Got them at the dealership for like $800, including tax.

 

I just spoke with Husky and they are saying that they are running the front Xact fits right now and that they will be going up on the Web site on Monday February 8.
