Bedrug should make the proper adjustments for the 16 if the bed walls are slightly higher

 

sorgon82 - As you can see, the BedRug fits properly if the forward bulkhead rail is installed. Don't blame BedRug because Toyota Corporate decided to make a little money on those of us who bought the 2016. I read T/W and was forewarned about the missing rail so I took the one off my 2012 before I traded.

 

I'm confused as to why the bedrug doesn't reach the front bulkhead rail by at least an inch but the sidewalls seemingly do? Are the sidewalls of the bedrug taller or is this simply an optical from the photos and point of view?

 

No, it is just because I did not pull the material tight enough during installation.

 

Note the two parallel lines at the bottom of the bulkhead and you will understand what I am saying. Those two lines are where the velcro was sewn to the back of the BedRug. By looking at the obvious sag in the middle, you can tell that I did not have the material pulled tight enough when I began but compensated for the error by the time I reached the corner. I will have to go back and make some adjustments. That was my error not the manufacturer's.

Milk crates, cargo organizers and a big plastic box keep my bed organized

 

Definitely need to take care with the install....mine was replaced and I did the 2nd install myself and the fit was great....the vid at the start of this thread shows how it should be done...great install by that firm.

 

Amen on the video, I wish it had been around when I did my first install. Don't forget to install the waterproof LED bed lights, they really light up the bed. I installed my switch higher that suggested to minimize the possibility of water pooling around it.

 

The Bedrugs look great, but no way i could put one in my truck. I can only imagine vacuuming out dirt and dog has would be difficult. Looks like the material would act like Velcro for stuff like that. For me the whole point of the truck bed is to put nasty stuff back there, and just sweep or hose it out when it's nasty.

 

SBPARK - Use a broom, Shopvac and pressure washer. The dog cannot do any more damage than a half inch of pork grease throughout the bed of the truck. I just shampooed it with dish soap, garage cleaner and a pressure washer I will confess to using a rug shampooer once I got most of the grease out though). That BedRug was also exposed to the Tennessee sun and snow for four years and still looked impressive when I traded my 2012 for the 2016. Wash it like (and when) you wash your truck. My 1800 psi pressure washer and a little detergent cleans it up great.

 

Wow, I must say, I just watched the video on their website, and I'm pretty impressed! only problem is now i have to figure out how I'd justify buying one!

 

What's the best price you guys have found for a '16 Tacoma shirt bed?

 

I just went to Home Depot and spent like $12 or $15 for an entry way rug and it fit perfectly.

Bedrug also told me that the gap is there "by design"... I have the rail installed on my bulk head and there is still a 2" gap. This is not by design, this is a company not adjusting to fit the new box.

If the gap was a "design feature" it would be present in other installs. Instead it is only in the 16 when the 15&16 have different dimensions but share a part number. It's sloppy. I'm not happy with this product in my truck.

 

Hi Just_Me - I am sorry that you are unhappy with your BedRug installation. Did you install it yourself, or have a vendor do it? If you look at the pictures of my installation earlier in this thread, it was done with the rail from my 2012 installed. Yes, there is an obvious "sag" in the front bulkhead, where I wasn't careful starting out. But I can (and will) go back and pull the BedRug taughter on that bulkhead and it WILL come to the bottom of the rail, as it did on my 2012 install. If you have a 2 inch gap, and have the rail installed on your forward bulkhead, then you have a loose install. Is your BedRug as close as mine is to the rail?

 

I had it installed. It is sloppy, but my real issue is that the company stating that it's by design that the product doesn't actually fit correctly.

I'm headed back to the vendor tomorrow to have it looked at, but the manufacturer saying that this is by design doesn't sit well. If we were told that about any other product people would be pissed. Yet bedrug seems to get a pass. Seems odd.
