If you are already stuck, ATRAC will brake the slipping wheel to transfer power to the non-slipping wheel. Best chance of getting unstuck.

ATRAC + Locker. ATRAC will engage front axle up to 3-5mph when the rear axle is locked. It is the best way to get traction to the ground in all 4 corners. Also common sense snow procedures like turning the front wheels right to left to right to try and find traction.

I didn't say she should ask the Internet. She was in the truck with the manual and it got stuck. She walked 1/4 mile to the house to have him fix it. He won't walk to the truck to get the manual and doesn't realize he can do all of that at once - read the manual, dig out wheels, pour sand, try and fix it.

So.. Logic isn't exactly a neighbor IYKWIM.

That said - he said its her truck. She got stuck for the first time with it and should learn to get it unstuck.

    This whole conversation is unfortunate.

Apparently if there was no where to pull over for a quarter mile, no, he wouldn't stop to help.

For what it's worth. We are both at home. I was following her in my truck. Because her truck was blocking our lane, we had to leave both trucks where she was stuck. We both walked the whole quarter mile. As for the internet question I asked, I think that I should have just downloaded the Tacoma manual from the good old internet. I ended up doing that and got the information I needed. Just thought I'd save a bit of time asking for help from some other Tacoma folks.

4 Lo, Locker on, A-TRAC on. Don't be afraid to maneuver in the ditch before making your run at getting back on the road. Don't be afraid of the skinny pedal. Cut tree limbs down and lay them down in your path if you need more traction.

And holy shit. Man card revocations for half the people in this thread. OP is a clueless as they come, but he could have walked into a woman's hair salon and got better answers than he did from half the people in this thread.

X2. Also might not be a bad idea to put weight in the bed to help with traction in the rear, of course with 4lo/locker/A-TRAC.

Too those who feel like being an asshole to the OP, useful info like this cannot be found in the manual. Real world experience/tips can go a whole lot further than bashing him for not RTFM.

I have to be missing something to this story .

You have two vehicles going up your driveway .

No recovery gear in either vehicle ??

I will give the benefit of the doubt you just moved to a part of the country where it can snow or you are having freak winter weather when it should be a cold 60 degrees F

Having no idea how to handle driving in winter conditions

all my vehicles have recovery gear year round and grain shovels in the winter.

Wow @ some of the replies. I like how some just assumed he left his wife in the truck in 10* weather. "Screw you bitch get yourself out"! Lol,really? Funny, like to see some of the "warm weather" dwellers go out in Nebraskas weather.

Exactly. Everyone wants to use the locker when in snow on ice, Atrac works better. And, it's just a button for an electronic aid that you don't have to worry about being engaged. But, I have to disagree. You can engage both the Atrac and the locker. It's just that Atrac is better in snow. It gives you better control as you could slip sideways and be worse off with the locker on ice. Avoid lockers on ice I unless you just want to play.

A 2105 Taco ? Why not just fly it out of there. Use the flight control panel. It's in the glove box. Just strap upon the heads up display and have at it.

Seriously, people wouldn't help their wife get unstuck? I stopped and offered to help a complete stranger get unstuck last night. He declined, and his Saturn Ion appeared to be high centred and smelled of burning. It's probably still there. Oh well.
