Mine fit perfectly. They are just tight. They can be put in either way. My seat sits back farther; so I HAD them turned around backwards.

You just really need to stuff them in there the first few times. I couldn't get mine the first try as well, and then I just fiddled with the angle I was sticking them in, and gave them a really good amount of force. It gets easier after a few ins and outs.

    Don't be scared.

My outboard headrests were such a tight fit that it took quite a bit of coaxing to get them in the first time, but at least they hold firmly. The center headrest slips in easily, but also has no friction holding it in. I figure I'll point it at at the first service appointment, hoping it wont take an extra trip to have it corrected.

Mine fit fine from new, no force required, but did need to be at just the right angle ... not straight in as one would think, but a few degrees off. I've never used that feature since trying it. I pulled out the center headrest and just extend and flop over the other two if I fold the seat. On a long trip where I wanted every cubic inch of space, I did remove the headrests and the skinny side back seat. Tool-less rear seat removal would be a HUGELY useful feature. Are you listening Toyota?

Have you tried to use a hammer? If not try that. If that doesn't work throw the head rests away and enjoy the view you'll finally have out the back window

So far just a tailgate light bar and replaced the backup lights with LEDsl Eventually I'd like to put a topper on it but not many options out there yet. I'm leaning towards a Hi-rise type just for the room. But then again it would be nice to keep the truck in the garage :)
Brand new 2017 Tacoma DBL cab offroad........My head rests wouldn't go in either.

I had the same "problem" with my 2017 Pro at first. Took some convincing, a couple of cuss words and finally running out of patience to get them to fit. After the first few times they fit without issue.

I did not know about this. I just put my headrests in a trash bag and put them in a cabinet in the garage. More visibility out the back and easier to fold the seat without hassle.

I couldn't get the headrests to fit either--I'll try harder after work. I saw someone ask but never saw an answer--why do the rear headrests fold down?
