Luckily my garage is 30ft deep and eventually my long will fit no problem.

Garage is 21' deep. I always back in and its pretty easy to hit the mark with the camera and leave just a couple inches to the door.

I have big woodworking tools in my garage so the fit is really tight. I have a Chamberlain garage door opener and use their Laser Parking Assist device, I believe the device can also work independent of a garage door opener. Since the last ~3 inches of the Tacoma hood at the windshield end has a slight bend to it I adjusted the laser light so that when it shines anywhere on that bend I know I'm good to go. Works great, better than a tennis ball. One thing to be careful with is if you're parking immediately after your Tacoma has just started. It rev's high for the first couple minutes after starting and will tend to jump as soon as you take your foot off the brake, can make parking in close quarters tricky.

I think the AC long bed and DCSB are about the same length? My garage is 20.6. I brought it home on a test drive and tried it in the garage first. Did the same thing with the Colorado.

The VW has a 2.5 L Subaru in it and less that 100k since new. Used to be a gearhead, family engineers racing and defense items.

I think my garage is about 21', but I have a work bench at the end that takes up a few feet. I leave just enough to squeeze by at the front, and I use the reverse camera to make sure I've pulled all the way in. Leaves me about 6 inches to spare:

It's tight, but good enough for government work.

I just went and measured it out for you. My garage is 22.5' long, but I have a bench that is 2.5' deep so my parking space is 20' long. With a little bit of room to spare at the door (maybe 8-10", little over a hand length), the front of the truck is at about 18.5-19' in. It's tight, but she fits ....

If your available parking space is only 20', just keep in mind you're only going to have about a foot or so on the end to squeeze by on.

That's sweet. Year/model specs? I've always wanted a syncro but at the end of the day the prices seem way too inflated to justify it.

1991 Vanagon Westy 2wd. Second owner, always garaged by first. 2.5 L rebuilt engine from 2001 Forester, dual batteries, potable solar. 4200 mile 3 week trip through Baja last year, never had to plug it in. Truck is the Winter ride, van and moto when its dry. Might change the trans to a taller 4th and add TBD and/or locker. Syncros are rare, expensive and difficult to find in this condition

Sounds like a pretty sweet rig. The couple that I've checked out have been stored out in the elements and had a lot of body rust. Cool that you found a garaged one. I second the notion about syncros.

My dad had one of those when I was a kid, well, an 80's Vanagon, red and white ... before that he had one of the older VW vans, was a real ugly brown and white. I hated them lol, the kids at school always made fun of them, and gave me so much grief. Now I kind of like the old VW vans, and even the Vanagon has a certain kind of character to it that is interesting :) I remember he had to wrench on them all the time lol, well the old one a bit more than the Vanagon, but both seemed to need a lot of regular care to keep them going. He was a bit of a VW nut though. Also had a bunch of beatles and super beatles. I remember one had a drag engine in it that had to be rebuilt all the time, but it was fun, real easy to drop the motor and rebuild ourselves. You learn a lot that way, and it definitely left me with the type of personality that isn't afraid to tear into anything mechanical. I don't care if it's a car motor, a generator, or a turbine ... I'll rip that thing apart and figure out what's what and get it back together one way or the other. Sometimes I even have extra pieces left over as souvenirs!

I wanted the long bed, but I had to get the short bed due to the garage configuration and the door just closes by about 2-3" :)

I would have like a long bed as well, but couldn't find one with a manual trans. That and a small garage pushed me this way
