Honestly I have ready pages after pages on tire size so I would have got it wrong but from what I understood is that the 255 are lighter than 285.

I think they have to be E rated, with that much sidewall, or the flex would be such that it would feel unsafe.

But as said above, E rated 255's are very heavy and you will see decreased MPG. Sticking with 32" may be your best option. Capable, lots of choices. (265/70/17s)

They're E rated because they're meant for 1 ton trucks with dual rear tire setups. So are 235s (also skinny and tall).

Pretty sure all the recs against using 5100s with aftermarket springs were from 3rd party vendors. maybe they got confued or just misquoted the Bilstein marketing copy, but I'm sure I saw it somewhere. I hadn't meant to imply that any of it was accurate other than that I read it (plenty of guys around here seem to be runnning 5100s with OME coils, and I'm probably going that way myself).

Just offered it up in response to the OP question which was if it's OK to use stock coils with the 5100s instead of going aftermarket.

Don't have any 2wd experience, just figured you had a certain terrain that size might have an advantage with. My choice would be 275 70 17c but I have 4wd. No trimming and doesn't look undersized. Do what looks/runs best to you.

I have 13' Sport DCLB with 5100's at 1.75 with stock sport springs and 265/70/17's and I have none of these issues, rides just like stock. Whoever experiences this didn't get their vehicle properly realigned.

    No.

Lots of people did. Glad you didn't have that issue, but that certainly doesn't mean everybody else doesn't have common sense.

    Thanks though.

Do you have any pictures of your truck. I'm looking at going with 265/70/17 or 255/75/17 I like the look of the 255 better but don't necessarily want to loose the gas mileage

I don't think there will be any difference in fuel mileage. With the 255's you are going to get a little taller of a tire but should be getting LESS rolling resistance because they aren't as wide so I think the MPG difference will be negligible. Its pretty much preference. I did google the 255's and they look sweet.

That looks good man. I plan on painting my spirt wheels black as well I got tired of looking aftermarket wheels. I like the sport wheels and plus I can add some wheel spacers to give it that mire aggressive look anyways. I really like the way the 255's look. With those tires though I will need the lift before I get them. I plan on going with the cooper Maxx tires. I've read a lot of good reviews on them from people here.

I mounted the new tires and before I seated the beads I masked and painted the wheels after scuffing and prep wiping. i used the VHT Epoxy paint because of its powdercoat like durability, dries fast too.

The Toyota emblems pop out of the center caps pretty easily, painted them to match the body color. VHT makes several different finishes and their paint is top notch. upload_2016-2-7_3-13-31.jpg

I bought 4, don't think I used them all. Better to have it and not need it. I did the whole outside of the wheel not just the face.

That's true. I will probably just end up painting the face.
